The training will start at 8 a.m. and is expected to last all day.
Route 5 will be open to normal traffic but may see delays, due to motorists slowing down to watch.
Live fire training consists of repeated controlled burns inside a structure, according to a news release from the Norwich Fire Department. Such training provides “an invaluable opportunity for firefighters to gain experience extinguishing fire under smoke and heat conditions similar to those in a structure fire.”
Smoke from the burn will likely be visible from Interstate 91, Hopson Road and parts of Hanover and Hartford.
