Two days after a disastrous outing in the giant slalom, Big Green junior Foreste Peterson rebounded handsomely to take third place in the women’s slalom to earn a podium for Dartmouth. The Big Green’s Thomas Woolson also enjoyed a good day on Cannon Mountain’s Mittersill slopes, taking fourth in the men’s race. Both athletes earned All-America honors for their results.
Dartmouth picked up 143 points in the standings on Friday, a total surpassed only by Denver (154), which finished the day atop the leaderboard with 419 points. Utah, which had been in front after two days of the four-day championship, scored 83 on Friday and fell to second place (384.5). Colorado is a close third overall (377), with Dartmouth fourth (313).
Peterson’s two-run time of 1 minute, 57.46 seconds trailed only Vermont’s Paula Moltzan (1:56.57) and Denver’s Andrea Komsic (1:57.08). Alexa Dlouhy (1:58.18) was sixth for the Big Green, and Kelly Moore (1:59.27) came in 11th.
Woolson (1:49.97) narrowly missed matching Peterson’s podium finish in the men’s race, finishing .05 behind Denver’s third-place Erik Read. Tanguy Nef (sixth; 1:50.39) and Brian McLaughlin (27th; 1:58.66) completed the Big Green’s scoring.
The championship wraps up today with the freestyle cross country races at the Jackson Ski Touring Center.

Angela Perry posted a game-high 18 points and Bethany Garrow followed with 15 points for Mount St. Joseph. Jocelyn Johnson topped the TSA scoresheet with nine points, with Grace Dorman netting eight and Mallory Lloyd adding six.
First-year Sharon coach Gregg Nalette called the season a success, especially given the Phoenix’s eight-wins-in-12-games run to earn home court in the tournament’s first round.
“All the credit goes to the kids for sticking the course, embracing the process of getting here,” Nalette said. “Some of the losses early on … it would have been easy for us to kind of go the wrong way and say this is what we are. They fought back and put together a great season.”
Sharon loses Lloyd, Dorman, Johnson and Anyata Hamilton to graduation.
“They were awesome,” Nalette said of the seniors. “I couldn’t have asked for a better group when I came in for my first season.”
