Burlington — Anthony Lamb hit all 10 of his shots from the field and finished with 23 points as top-seeded Vermont routed Maine in an American East tournament quarterfinal game on Wednesday.

The Catamounts, who were undefeated in conference play, opened up a 45-16 lead in the first half. They advance to face New Hampshire in the semifinals at Burlington.

Lamb, a freshman making his first postseason start, was 10 for 10 from the field and hit both of his 3-point attempts, but was only 1 of 2 from the free throw line.

Dre Willis and Darren Payen scored 13 and 12 points, respectively, off the Vermont bench as the Catamounts (27-5) shot 38 of 64 from the field (59.4 percent), including 6 of 17 from beyond the arc. Hot as Vermont was from the field, they hit just 4 of 10 from the line.

Andrew Fleming had 18 points for Maine (7-25).

New Hampshire 74, UMBC 65

Durham, n.h. — Jaleen Smith and Tanner Leissner each scored 20 points and combined on 16-for-26 shooting and New Hampshire beat Maryland-Baltimore County in an America East quarterfinal.

Iba Camara had a double-double for New Hampshire (20-11) with 10 points and 16 rebounds with five coming on the offensive end. The Wildcats beat UMBC 94-90 in double overtime Saturday and earned the right to play at home.

Jordan Reed’s only basket of the night gave the Wildcats a 3-0 lead and they never trailed. New Hampshire led 36-29 at halftime. Smith’s layup with 14:50 to go made it 50-37.

Sam Schweitz’s layup and Rodney Elliott’s layup with 8:33 left capped a 14-2 run for the Retrievers, but Smith followed with a 3-point play, Camara a layup, and Leissner added a jumper and UMBC couldn’t get closer.

Jairus Lyles led UMBC (18-12) with 17 points and Elliott scored 10.

No. 12 Florida 78, Arkansas 65

Gainesville, Fla. — Canyon Barry scored 14 points, his best game since injuring an ankle two weeks ago, and Florida handled Arkansas.

Kasey Hill, KeVaughn Allen and Chris Chiozza added 12 points apiece for the Gators, who bounced back from their first loss in 10 games and clinched the No. 2 seed in the Southeastern Conference Tournament next week.

Florida (24-6, 14-3) controlled the game much of the night, building a double-digit lead early, extending it to as many as 16 in the first half and then holding on after the break.

Arkansas (22-8, 11-6) made it close midway through the second half, cutting the lead to 51-45 on Trey Thompson’s straightaway jumper.

No. 19 Notre Dame 82, Boston College 66

South Bend, Ind. — V.J. Beachem scored 22 points to lead Notre Dame to its sixth straight win.

Bonzie Colson added 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Irish (23-7, 12-5 ACC), who have all but locked up a top-four finish in the ACC and a double-bye for next week’s conference tournament.

Ky Bowman scored 19 points and Mo Jeffers had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Boston College (9-21, 2-15 ACC), which has lost 13 in a row and 15 of 16.
