White River Junction — Both the prosecution and defense for former Windsor police officer Ryan Palmer have said they are just about ready for trial.

Palmer, who resigned from the Windsor force in July, is facing aggravated assault with a weapon and reckless endangerment charges in connection with a November 2014 shooting incident.

Palmer appeared in Windsor Superior Court on Tuesday for a status conference.

When exactly the trial will take place is unclear; it will be this year, though. Judge Theresa DiMauro said the court has a packed calendar.

Assistant Attorney General Matthew Levine said the trial will likely last about four days. Palmer’s attorney, Dan Sedon, said he hopes it will be scheduled “sooner rather than later.”

After his status conference, Palmer said he is “doing well” and that “things are good.” Palmer, who is residing out of state, referred further questioning to his attorney.
