Durham, n.h. — Opinion about President Donald Trump is sharply divided in New Hampshire, according to a new Granite State Poll released on Friday by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center.

Some 48 percent of respondents said they disapprove of Trump’s job performance thus far, but 43 percent said they approved of the Republican president’s actions; 8 percent were neutral.

Reactions trended along party lines, with 80 percent of Republicans and 40 percent of independents backing Trump, but just 5 percent of Democrats approving.

The poll found that 51 percent of respondents supported Trump’s executive order targeting immigrants and travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries, while 43 percent were opposed.

The telephone — both landline and cellphone — poll of 505 randomly selected New Hampshire adults had a margin of error of 4.4 percentage points.
