Lebanon — Lebanon Police Department will offer “coffee with a cop” on Feb. 27 at 8 a.m. at Lebanon Diner, on the Hanover Street mall.

The majority of interactions between law enforcement and the public take place during emotional situations, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street, according to a police department news release. Coffee with a Cop is an opportunity to meet with officers in an informal, neutral space, ask questions, and learn more about the department’s work. The national program, supported by the Department of Justice, aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between officers and community members “one cup of coffee at a time,” the release said.
