Newbury, N.H. —
Dorothy was born in New London, N.H. on May 18, 1946, to Russell Colby of Boscawen and Lucy (Turner) Colby of Australia. She graduated from Sunapee High School and lived in Sunapee for most of her life.
Dorothy married John Wiggins on Oct. 24, 1964. Married for over 52 years, they enjoyed cruises and traveling, including an annual trip to Nevada to celebrate their anniversary.
Dorothy worked as bookkeeper and owner of Micro Precision, Inc. in Sunapee and volunteered at New London Hospital. An artist, she painted and gardened, and she enjoyed crafts, decorating, and shopping, She loved animals, especially cats and watching the wild animals that would appear in the back yard. She had a fun sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Dorothy is survived by her husband John of Newbury and Sunapee; son, John Jr. and partner, Andy Ke of Philadelphia; daughter, Doreen Wiggins and partner, Lauri Plante of Dover; brother, William & sister-in-law, Joyce Colby of Cornish and brother, Jayson and sister-in-law, Laura Colby of Winchester, Mass.; sister-in-law, Georgie (Wiggins) Thomas of Belfast, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Lake Sunapee United Methodist Church in Sunapee at noon on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, followed by a reception in the vestry. Family and friends are encouraged to join for the services and/or the reception.
