Lebanon — School officials are accepting applications to fill a one-month vacancy on the Lebanon School Board, after board member Robert McCarthy resigned earlier this month.

“It is with great sadness that I am stepping down effective immediately from the Lebanon School Board for health reasons,” McCarthy wrote in a letter to the board. “It has been a great pleasure working with each and every one of you.”

McCarthy was first appointed to the nine-member School Board in May 2010, after the resignation of former board member Doug Gross. He then went on to win three-year terms in 2011 and again in 2014.

The board is now hoping to appoint a candidate who would fill the vacant position from Feb. 1 to the annual school meeting vote on March 14, when voters will select three board members to serve in open seats. Interested candidates can find an application for the vacant seat at the school district’s website, sau88.net. Filings for the March ballot will also be open from Jan. 31 to Feb. 14.
