Boston — Isaiah Thomas scored 16 of his 26 points in the second half and Al Horford had 18 points and five blocked shots as the Boston Celtics beat the Charlotte Hornets 96-88 on Friday night to stop a three-game slide.

Avery Bradley and Jae Crowder added 12 points apiece for the Celtics, who held the Hornets to 13 field goals in the second half.

Charlotte played without leading scorer Kemba Walker, who did not travel with the team due to personal reasons, and lost its fourth straight.

Nicolas Batum led the Hornets with 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Ramon Sessions had 13 points and six assists, Marco Belinelli scored 11 and Jeremy Lamb added 10 points for Charlotte.

After shooting 2 of 14 from beyond the arc in the first half, the Celtics started hitting from outside in the third quarter. They went 7 of 14 on 3-pointers in the second half and held Charlotte to 19 points in each of the final two quarters.

Crowder hit a 3 with 6:11 left to put Boston up 80-79 after Charlotte scored seven straight points. Thomas drew a flagrant foul by Belinelli and hit both free throws. Boston retained possession because of the flagrant, and Crowder drew another foul and added two more free throws to put Boston ahead 84-79.

Cody Zeller missed from inside for Charlotte, and Thomas came back with a 3-pointer to make it 87-79 with 4:52 left.

Charlotte turned it over right away after the inbounds play and Bradley added another 3 that gave Boston a 90-79 cushion with 4:24 to go.

After a basket by Belinelli with 6:32 left completed their 7-0 run, the Hornets went scoreless until his layup with 2:20 left cut it to 92-81.

Boston held Charlotte to five field goals in the third quarter, when the Hornets were 5 of 23.

Charlotte closed the second period on a 14-4 run and took a 50-41 lead into halftime. The Hornets led 60-48 early in the third when the Celtics started their surge. Bradley, Horford and Thomas rattled off baskets to cut it to 60-54, then Bradley’s 3-pointer with 6:01 left cut the margin to 60-57.

Charlotte got a pair of free throws with 5:14 to go in the period, then Horford’s dunk pulled Boston within three and Kelly Olynyk hit a 3-pointer to tie it at 62 with 3:57 left.

It was tied 69-all at the end of the third.

Wizards 122, Pistons 108

Washington — John Wall had 29 points and 11 assists, leading a Washington offense that committed a season-low five turnovers.

Bradley Beal added 25 points and Marcin Gortat had 12 to go with 14 rebounds for Washington, which also set a season high for points in its fourth win in five games.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 24 points to lead the Pistons. Andre Drummond added 13 points and 12 rebounds on a night when the teams combined for 11 players in double figures

The Pistons began the day as the league’s leader in fewest turnovers per game and only had nine against Washington. But the league’s second-best defensive team trailed most of the evening and by double digits for almost all of the second half.

Magic 118, Nets 111

Orlando, Fla. — Nikola Vucevic had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Evan Fournier also scored 21 and Orlando defeated the Nets to snap their six-game home losing streak.

Fournier scored 11 straight points in the final 2:26, going 8 for 8 from the free throw line after the teams were tied at 106.

In a game that had been close throughout, Orlando made the big shots down the stretch to pull away.

Hawks 125, Raptors 121

Toronto — Dwight Howard had 27 points and 15 rebounds, Dennis Schroder scored 24 points and Atlanta beat Toronto to snap the Raptors’ four-game win streak.

Kyle Korver had a season-high 19 points, including a season-high six 3-pointers for Atlanta. Howard’s double-double was his 17th of the season.

DeMar DeRozan had 34 points for the Raptors, while Kyle Lowry added 27.

Down 113-97 with 7:10 to go, the Raptors went on a 14-4 run to get within six points on DeRozan’s dunk with 3:47 to play. The teams then exchanged the next six baskets.

Lakers 100, Sixers 89

Philadelphia — Julius Randle scored nine of his 25 points in a dominating first quarter and Los Angeles snapped an eight-game losing streak.

Lou Williams added 18 points and D’Angelo Russell and Nick Young had 15 points apiece for the Lakers.

They were playing the third game of a seven-game, 12-day trip — their longest of the season.

Joel Embiid scored 15 points for the 76ers. They have dropped eight straight at home to fall to an NBA-worst 6-20.

Clippers 102, Heat 98

Miami — Blake Griffin scored 20 points, Chris Paul and J.J. Redick each added 17 and the Clippers held on to beat Miami for their fourth consecutive win.

DeAndre Jordan had an offensive rebound off a missed free throw and scored the clincher with 7.7 seconds left for the Clippers, finishing off his 12-point, 19-rebound night.

Goran Dragic had 21 points and 11 assists, Justise Winslow scored 15 and Wayne Ellington added 13 points before leaving injured for Miami.

Hassan Whiteside had 11 points and 17 rebounds for the Heat.
