Zack, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name’s Zack and I’m a 2-year-old neutered male cat that came to Lucy Mackenzie as a stray. A really nice lady had been feeding me. She knew she couldn’t keep me, so she made sure I made it here safe and sound.

“I love it here — there’s lots of people, cats and dogs — and lots of food! And I get to play and sleep and I’m safe.

“When I was living on my own, I really wasn’t all that healthy when I was eating whatever I could find. Come to find out, I have a very sensitive stomach. The veterinarians that take care of me put me on a special diet and I feel so much better. Don’t let that keep you from meeting me or adopting me, though. The staff would be more than willing to talk to you about my dietary needs. As a matter of fact, Lucy Mackenzie is running an adoption special now through December 31st. The adoption fee is waived on all animals that eat a special diet. All you need to do is make a donation in your new adoptee’s honor.

“So, if you’ve been looking for a new best friend, stop in and meet me today!”

Zack is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.

Snuffleupagus, adoptable from Sullivan County Humane Society

“I am 6-month-old Snuffleupagus. I was adopted from Sullivan County Humane Society as a kitten but I was too energetic for my elderly cat sibling so the family returned me after 3 months. All I wanted to do was play and cuddle! Can you give me a furr-ever home?

“I am vet-checked, neutered, vaccinated for rabies and distemper, treated for fleas and worms, tested negative for FIV/FeLV, and microchipped.”

Snuffleupagus is up for adoption from Sullivan County Humane Society, located at 145 Broad St. in Claremont. Please see hours on the humane society website at www.sullivancountyhumanesociety.org and Facebook. Call 603-542-3277 or email sullivanhumane@hotmail.com.

callie.jpg
Callie, adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society

Looking for a beautiful queen to join your family? Callie has been living at UVHS for almost a year and we’d love to help her find a forever home for the holidays.

She’s a gorgeous, 9-year-old long-haired calico. Callie enjoys lounging around and gentle head petting. She’ll need a quiet home and regular brushing. Her new family will need to keep her on a specific diet to help her lose a little weight.

Can you give this sassy queen a warm place to call home this holiday season?

Callie is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.

charlie.JPG
Charlie, adoptable from River Valley Animal Protection League

Charlie is a very outgoing girl. She loves to be petted, loves to rub on pretty much everything, loves to play, loves eating — and she loves it all vigorously. In fact, it can be difficult to clean her cage, because she is so excited to socialize that nothing gets done, except her water being spilled.

I will add that Charlie surprised us the other day by curling up on a chair while a volunteer did paperwork in the office instead of “helping” the entire time, so we now know that she doesn’t make a pest of herself.

Charlie may need to be an only cat though, because while we haven’t tested the waters much yet, she has a history of fighting, also with great vigor. During her time as a stray she was known for chasing other cats and stealing their meals. So far at the shelter, she still steals other cats’ food through their cages, but is about as polite about it as one can be while reaching onto someone else’s plate.

If you think you might be interested in a new furry BFF, who is always super excited to hang out with you — and is always super excited to eat — let River Valley Animal Protection League know!

Charlie is up for adoption from the River Valley Animal Protection League, located at 60 Cummings Ave. in Charlestown and open to the public Mondays, 4-7 p.m., and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m., or by appointment by calling 603-826-3061. The River Valley Animal Protection League is also on Facebook.
