Grafton, N.H. — Col. Allan C. Campbell, Ret. US Army, 90, of Turnpike Road, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016 at his home.

He was born in South Boston, Mass., on Jan. 15, 1926 the son of Hector and Ruth (Duggleby) Campbell.

His home base was Milton, Mass. before moving to Grafton in 1987.  Allan served in the US Army for 40 years.  He had also been a priest and served the Charlestown, Waltham and Cambridge, Mass. Parishes.

Known as “Sparky”, he was the chaplain for the Waltham Fire Department.  Very active in Grafton, Allan had been a library trustee and the cemetery agent, Life Member and Commander of the Grafton American Legion Post #97 as well as a communicant of St. Helena’s and St. Mary’s Parish.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dorothy (Meade) Campbell of Grafton.

Friends may call at St. Mary’s Church, US Route 4, Canaan, N.H. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and a funeral Mass will follow at  11 a.m.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Grafton with military honors.  A reception will follow at St. Mary’s Church.
