Haverhill, N.H. —
Eunice was born on May 4, 1920, in Haverhill to John E and Ione (Bailey) Cox. She was a graduate of Haverhill Academy, Class of 1938, and attended the University of New Hampshire.
Eunice worked at various nursing homes and took care of others in her own home.
An active volunteer in the community, Eunice was a member of the Methodist Church in East Haverhill and the First Congregational Church of Haverhill, UCC. She belonged to the ladies aide groups and taught Sunday School and was a 4-H leader. She was also a former member of the Moosilauke Grange of East Haverhill.
She was active throughout her life as an avid gardener and doll collector. She enjoyed doing crafts. Eunice loved to travel and was always “ready to go.”
She is predeceased by husbands Albert Dargie and Fred Rockwood; two children, Yvonne Mundell and Peter Dargie; and her siblings.
She is survived by her children, John and Susan Dargie, James and Kathleen Dargie, Jerome and Maureen Dargie, Barbara Aloupis and Joan Allen all of New Hampshire; step-sons, Dale and Carol Rockwood and David “Pete” and Patricia Rockwood all of Massachusetts; 20 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral service will be on Friday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Haverhill, UCC, with Rev. Rebecca Larson, officiating. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
