Kansas City, Mo. —
Peter was preceded in death by his parents, S. Arnold and Marion Shields of Piermont, N.H., his maternal grandmother, Florence Robbins of Piermont and a daughter, Deidre Shields.
Peter spent many summers in Piermont and as he grew older, he helped out at the Robbins Inn, owned by his maternal grandparents. After his parents’ return to Piermont in 1981, he spent many Christmases there and was married in his grandmother’s apartment in 1983.
Peter was a long time employee of the Social Security Administration in Kansas City and an active union steward and officer for AFGE Local 1336. After retirement, he worked part time at a Mid Continent public library branch.
He is survived by his wife, Mary and daughter, Bridget of the home; a son, Edward Shields of Columbus, Ohio; and a brother, Paul Shields of Baltimore; nieces, nephews, a great niece and great nephews.
