Hanover — The Dartmouth College women’s hockey team tuned up for its new season by playing McGill to a 2-2 tie at Thompson Arena on Sunday.

The Big Green picked up one-goal, one-assist games from Kennedy Ottenbreit and Christina Rombaut in the team’s first game for new coach Laura Schuler. Twelve games into their season, the Martlets spent the weekend playing against two Dartmouth rivals, beating Harvard, 3-0, and losing to Yale, 1-0.

Emma Korbs also had an assist for the Big Green.

“I am really proud of how they competed,” Schuler said. “There were a lot of second, third and fourth efforts to get pucks out of our zone. We had a lot of kids blocking shots and sacrificing themselves to put our team first, and I am really proud of their efforts today.”

Goaltenders Robyn Chemago, Christie Honor and Shannon Ropp all saw time and combined for 33 saves. Ropp had a pair of big stops in overtime to preserve the tie.

The Big Green will officially open the season on Friday against Northeastern and Sunday against Harvard, both at Thompson.

New London — Seniors Allyse Mullen and Erika Leach had integral roles in Saturday’s senior day match, helping the Chargers (10-4-0 overall, 3-1-0 league) to a North Atlantic Conference win over the Chargers (6-10-0, 2-2-0).

The team’s only seniors were honored prior to the match for their four-year contributions to the program. Leach then contributed the game-winning goal while Mullen, a Hartford High graduate from Wilder, threw in a pair of assists.

Mullen set up first-half goals from Sierra Schuster and Alie Jones for a 2-1 lead after 12 minutes. Castleton reversed the advantage by early in the second half, but Jenna Donahue leveled in the 40th minute, Leach put Colby-Sawyer ahead to stay in the 44th and Jones added the clincher with eight minutes left.
