Hanover — A toxic chemical that is believed to have migrated from a Dartmouth College medical waste dump site has been found in a second private well in Hanover.

Neighbors of Rennie Farm, the former Dartmouth dump site, were notified of the discovery on Monday.

The chemical 1,4 dioxane is labeled a probable carcinogen and can cause kidney and liver damage in long-term exposure. Short-term health effects include eye, nose and throat irritation, according to the EPA.
