Claremont — Two burglaries on Charlestown Road early Wednesday morning were possibly committed by the same person because the locations are only about half a mile apart, police said in a news release.

In what appears to be the first incident, a surveillance camera shows an individual wearing a hooded sweatshirt breaking the glass on a side door at the T-Bird Mini Mart, climbing through the opening and stealing several cartons of cigarettes, police said. When police arrived following the alarm activation just after 3 a.m., the person had already left and is believed to have proceeded north toward the Subaru dealership, wearing a hooded sweatshirt. Later in the morning, police were called to the Head Start building on Charlestown Road for a report of a burglary. Police said someone forced their way into the building either late Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning, rummaged through the offices and possibly stole a small amount of cash.

Given the proximity of the locations and the timing, police said there is a “strong possibility” the burglaries are related. Anyone with information is asked to call Claremont police at 603-542-9538.
