Orford
But as the Raptors found out, it’s been tough to hold the Panthers and senior striker Connor Brown down for long, as Thetford found its groove late for a 3-0 victory on Tuesday.
Brown scored twice for Thetford, including a goal with just three minutes left in a largely frustrating first half for the Panthers’ offense. But first-year Thetford coach Mark Weigel said that goal opened the floodgates and gave his team all the confidence it needed.
“We were not playing to our potential in the first half,” Weigel said. “Give credit to Rivendell for disrupting what we wanted to do. But once we scored that goal, and even in the last 10 minutes of the first half, we started to figure things out.”
Erik Lindahl assisted on both of Brown’s goals. Nick Moses scored the insurance goal with 13 minutes remaining in the match, assisted by Dylan Thorburn. Anthony Stoffel made seven saves for the shutout.

“We got off to a really slow start, but we had a much better second half,” Montano said. “We’ve had a bug going around the team and we were missing three starters. Regardless, we had a poor first half, a much better second half. Mid Vermont Christian is much improved since the last time we saw them.”
Josh King and Daniel Roberts dented the net for MVCS, and goalie Brandan Palmer made seven saves.

“I think the kids are actually starting to come together,” Woodsville coach Ann Loud said following the team’s first back-to-back victories. “We talked well. We moved the ball well. We definitely played better than we did in Lisbon.”
The win was Loud’s 100th in her coaching career. Woodsville hosts Blue Mountain on Thursday.
