New York — Chad Kanoff threw three touchdown passes and John Lovett accounted for four more scores as Princeton rolled to a 48-13 victory over Columbia in an Ivy League opener on Saturday.

Kanoff was 21-of-25 for 230 yards passing, and needs just 131 yards to become the 11th player in program history to throw for 3,000 career yards. Lovett ran in for three touchdowns from inside the 5-yard line, and tossed a 5-yard TD pass to Joe Rhattigan. Lovett has scored multiple touchdowns in five of his last seven games.

It was the Tigers’ sixth straight win over Columbia (0-3, 0-1).

Rhode Island 28, Brown 13

Kingston, r.i. — Harold Cooper ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns to help Rhode Island pull away and beat Brown.

William Twyman picked off Jordan Vazzano’s pass and returned it 30 yards into the end zone to give Brown (1-2) a 13-7 halftime lead.

The Bears fumbled the ball during their first series of the second half, and Momodou Mbye recovered it deep in Brown territory. Sean Anderson then bullied in from the 3-yard line three plays later to give Rhode Island (1-4) a 14-13 lead.

Lehigh 63, Yale 35

New Haven, Conn. — Brad Mayes threw six touchdown passes and a program record 524 yards as Lehigh routed Yale.

Mayes was 33-of-46 passing, and joins four other Hawks’ quarterbacks with a school-best six TD passes. He surpassed Scott Semptimphelter’s 1992-mark of 480 yards passing.

Troy Pelletier had 13 receptions for 213 yards and three touchdowns. Gatlin Casey caught six passes for 169 yards and two scores. Trevor Socarras also had a touchdown catch.

Cornell 39, Colgate 38

Hamilton, n.y. — Dalton Banks threw four touchdown passes, including the game-winner with 28 seconds to go, and Cornell came back to beat Colgate.

Colgate turned the ball over on downs at the Cornell 43 with 2:20 left, and Banks then led a six-play, 57 yard drive, culminating with a 19-yard touchdown pass to Collin Shaw.

UNH 21, William & Mary 12

Durham, n.h. — Trevor Knight threw for 118 yards, ran for 95 more, and had two touchdowns as New Hampshire beat William & Mary.

New Hampshire led just 7-6 entering the fourth quarter but added two scores within five minutes of each other to effectively ice the game.

Mount Ida 15, Norwich 14

Northfield, Vt. — Quarterback Jack Sheehan tossed a touchdown pass with 55 seconds to play and followed with a conversion pass to Matt Greenman as the Mustangs (1-3) snuck past the Cadets (0-4).

The Cadets led in virtually every offensive category, but the visiting Mustangs snuck out of Northfield with only their third-ever win against Norwich.

Castleton 23, Anna Maria 13

Castleton, Vt. — The host Spartans (1-3) used a balanced attack to open an early lead and rode its defnse from there for an Eastern Collegiate Football Conference win over Anna Maria (0-4).

Castleton accumulated a season-high 408 yards of offense.

Middlebury 35, Colby 14

Waterville, Maine — Jared Lebowitz threw five touchdown passes for the second consecutive week, leading Middlebury to its third 2-0 start in the past four years with a road win at Colby (1-1).

AIC 30, Saint Anselm 10

Manchester — The Hawks (0-5) couldn’t grab their first win of the season in a Northeast-10 Conference loss to the Yellow Jackets (2-3).

Westfield State 15Plymouth State 14 (ot)

Westfield, Mass. — A missed point-after kick in overtime doomed the Panthers (4-1), who suffered their first loss of the season.

Westfield (2-2) countered Mitch Banuskevich’s 3-yard touchdown run to open the overtime with a 1-yard Phil Cohen TD run. Norman Carroll converted the PAT for the win.
