“I joke with Zak that because he started playing varsity in eighth grade, he really needs to score 120 goals before he leaves,” said Whitchester coach Corey Stearns, whose team tumbled to 3-3.
South Royalton (4-2) took a 3-0 lead on goals by Nick Howe, Jack Hewitt and Brais Figeuroa before Gillette made the score 3-1 off a Liam Walker assist 30 seconds before intermission.
The Royals went up, 4-1, just two minutes into the second half on a Figueroa goal. Gillette struck again four minutes later and, three minutes after that, Figueroa scored again, this time unassisted. Howe, Hewitt and Stephen Paige all had assists on the afternoon.
Gillette’s 100th goal came with 10 minutes remaining. Teammate Isaac Hodgdon made eight saves, and Jayson Perron stopped six shots for SoRo.
Lebanon
“It was a deft turn and finish in a mad, goalmouth scramble,” Lebanon coach Rob Johnstone wrote in an email, noting that his team twice overcame deficits for the victory. “Last year, while we led Division II in both goals scored (55) and fewest goals against (7), we did not win a game when the other team scored first.”
Goffstown opened the scoring during the 11th minute before Logan Falzarano equalized for Lebanon on a 22-yard direct kick a minute later. Owen Johnstone put the hosts up, 2-1, after he intercepted a clearing pass, and Goffstown forged a 2-2 tie on a Lebanon own goal in the 34th minute.
The Grizzlies took a 3-2 lead on a corner kick 30 seconds before halftime, but the Raiders made it 3-3 nine minutes after the break when Johnstone scored off a Jordan Hammond throw-in.
Bethlehem, n.h.
Adam Cataldo accounted for Woodsville’s other strike and set up three of Houde’s goals. Garrett Olsen and Alex Enderson also earned assists. A Houde PK gave the Engineers a 1-0 halftime lead, but everything broke loose once the interval ended.
Cooper Davidson made a pair of point-blank stops just before halftime as part of a 12-save day.
Claremont
Noah Spaulding led the way with a hat trick. Ethan Sweet, Coby Hussey and Drew Grenier also dented the net, with Logan Bonneau assisting twice and Sweet, Grenier and Colin Lewis handing out additional helpers. Tanner Durkee needed just four saves for the shutout.
“Conditions got very slick as the night went on,” Stevens coach Jason Stone said. “The game got a bit physical. We needed a game like that.”
The Cards expect a tough date with the next match, a Saturday evening date with Kearsarge.
Hartford 2, Burr & Burton 2
White River Junction
The Hurricanes’ Pat Brady scored on a 35-yard direct kick in the 14th minute, the ball bouncing in a crowded box before popping under the crossbar. Kyle Prior gave the Hurricanes a 2-1 lead 10 minutes before halftime off a Brady assist.
Williamstown, Vt.
Chelsea
Maya Johnstone and Grace Dorman also tallied for the visitors, and Mallory Lloyd had three assists. Frost and Jasmin Johnson each had single assists and the back line of Kaila Skeet-Browning, Lily Crowley, Meghan Shirley and Eva Sturm-Gross was broken only by a late penalty-kick goal.
Sharon coach Blake Fabrikant said the Red Devils double-teamed Lloyd at striker during the first half, so he pulled the standout senior back to midfielder for the second stanza and moved Frost up in her place.
Danville, Vt.
Barton finished a Britteny Brocar pass in the 66th minute as Oxbow finally broke through on a day in which the visitors fired 33 shots at the Indians’ net. Barton added a second on an penalty kick with 3:31 left following a Danville hand ball.
Kaysea Neil had a four-save shutout. Schyler Hanzas and Lindsey Carbee also contributed to the win with aggressive play in the midfield, especially in pursuit of 50-50 balls. The O’s go to BFA-Fairfax on Friday for the second of six successive matches away from home.
Bethel
Brianna Hillier had two goals and an assist and Molly LaFromboise had a goal for Whitchester, which hosts Chelsea at Rochester on Thursday.
South Royalton’s Emma Hudson scored the first goal of her four-year varsity career on a penalty kick.
Randolph
Lily MacVeagh’s third goal of the season was the difference-maker for Thetford. MacVeagh fired a left-footed shot from 18 yards past the Randolph goalkeeper in the first half, and TA netminder Danielle Robinson made it stand.
Meredith, n.h.
Griffin put Stevens on the board from the penalty spot, clinching the win with 9 minutes left on a Sydney Miller pass. Amber Duford recorded the seven-save shutout for the Cards, who have won six straight.
Woodstock
Brattleboro’s Kai Boyd answered Dieffenbach’s unassisted corner kick goal, but another solo effort from the senior midfielder put the Wasps (4-4-0) ahead to stay. Claire Saunders assisted on Marsicovetere’s goal, and Brittany Poljacik had an outstanding effort in the goal with 18 saves.
Emma Maiden and Sarah Findeisen also played key roles in the win for Woodstock.

Hanover (18-2) plays its final regular-season match Thursday when it hosts Coe-Brown. The NHIAA Division II team championship is Oct. 6 and the individual championship two days later, both at Concord’s Beaver Meadow Golf Course.

Grantham
Bitler shot 3-over-par 39 to lead Lebanon, which picked up a pair of 42s from Hunter Marsh and Kyle Pelletier and a 44 from Nate Damren.
Stevens (14-10) took second as a team behind a pair of 46s from Cody Schoolcraft and Ian MacDonald, a 48 from Matt LeClair and a 52 from Teagan Daignault.
Lebanon hosts Prospect Mountain and Conant today in its season finale. Stevens is at Sanborn today.

Woodstock
Balch led Woodstock’s Sidney Pilot across the finish line, with the Wasps’ Grace Vollers the only other Upper Valley runner in the top 10. Brattleboro outpointed TA for the team win, with the Panthers’ Morgan Gaffney, Ellenor Koppers, Hannah Harkins and Grace Clement completing Thetford’s scoring.
The Colonels were the only boys team to post a team tally behind winning runner Isaac Freitas-Eagan. Nathan Bassett took seventh for Woodstock.
Lyndonville, Vt.
Izzy Giesing won the girls 5K in 22 minutes, 57 seconds, to top a field of 91 runners. Hannah Giesing was fifth (24:00) and Burgess sixth (24:20) for the Olympians, who capped their runner-up team effort (behind only Montpelier) with a 32nd-place result from Cassidy Pryer (27:37).
The Oxbow boys took sixth as a team in the 121-runner boys race. William Douglass (15th, 21:21), Keelan Durham (17th, 21:17), Jon Puffer (27th, 22:01) and William Moreno (32nd, 22:18) scored for the O’s.
Jericho, Vt.
Taylor Paquette and Rachel Seale both had big games for Mid Vermont Christian. Both had 10 kills, with Seale throwing in three blocks and five digs and Paquette contributing eight kills.
Emily Jasmin amassed 22 assists to go with seven digs and three kills, and teammate Kelsey Mossell also had a big defensive afternoon with eight digs.
MVCS is at Randolph on Thursday.

Courtney Murray led Colby-Sawyer with nine kills, backed by a six-kill night from Gabrielle Rodriguez.
