Substitute Amelia Wilson stole a ball in the open field from a Mountaineers forward, dribbled in for a one-on-one chance against Julie Downs and drilled it past the goalie to the upper left corner with 3 minutes, 4 seconds left in the extra session.
Wilson, who normally plays midfield, was inserted in place of Mascoma’s leading scorer, Katie Ferland, in order to give the senior rest.
“Overtime is 7-on-7, so you’re subbing quickly to keep fresh legs,” said Mascoma coach Jenn Hammond, whose squad defeated the defending NHIAA Division III champion for the first time during her four-year tenure. “Amelia really did a great job on that play.”
It was a strong defensive effort for the Royals, who led 7-2 in shots.
Mascoma’s third straight win avenged last year’s regular-season loss to Berlin, also 1-0 in overtime in West Canaan.
Downs finished with six saves while the Royals’ Abby Duhaime made two.
Mascoma visits Winnisquam on Tuesday.
Bennington, Vt.
Sofia Kantola added a goal and Loretta Blakeney and Sarah Yates had assists for the Wasps.
Senior Molly Henne and freshman Maggie Parker split time in net for Woodstock, recording one save each.
Woodstock visits Hartford on Wednesday.
Brandon, Vt.
Morgan Pero put Hartford in front with a goal two minutes into the action off a corner by Natasha Lovell. The Canes nursed the lead for most of regulation until Otter Valley scored off a corner with two minutes left to knot things up and force overtime.
Goalie Rachel Loseby had five saves for Hartford (4-1), which plays at Woodstock on Wednesday.
Bradford, Vt.
The first Perry-Pelletier scoring connection was for about 70 yards, Oxbow coach Sean Murphy said. The O’s led 13-0 at halftime.
Freshman Harley Wescott also had a productive day receiving, and RB/LB Jake Stimson was strong on both sides of the ball for the Olympians.
Oxbow plays its first-ever night home game Friday against U-32. The team is renting lights for the contest.
West Canaan
“(Monadnock is) very good, and we’re down at least six starters due to injuries,” Mascoma coach Les Lawrence said. “A lot of our young kids played their hearts out, and Monadnock is a classy team because it could have been worse.”
The Huskies led 40-0 at halftime.
Mascoma visits InterLakes-Moultonborough on Saturday.
Brandon, Vt.
Ezra Astbury led the Woodstock ground attack with 196 yards on 15 carries. Astbury also had scoring runs from 51 and 3 yards out. Bill Wood added 177 yards on just 11 carries and had an 85-yard touchdown run. Dan Robinson scored from 58 yards.
Wood converted on three extra point kicks and Luc Issa connected on a 2-point conversion pass. Patrick Potter provided a defensive highlight with an interception in the first quarter.
Woodstock hosts Spaulding on Friday night.
Suncook, n.h.
Winter ran 18 times to cross the 200-yard mark and had three touchdown runs. Alex Mosenthal added 58 yards on nine carries. Quarterback Connor Stafford had a scoring run from short range and connected on a 33-yard touchdown pass to Elliott Kelly. Simon Roach added 23 yards on the ground.
The Marauders’ defense added a safety to account for the other two points. Kicker Moises Celaya was a perfect 5-for-5 on extra points. The Marauders, 2-6 in 2015, are now 3-0 this season and will host Lebanon on Friday night.

The Lakers improved to 3-0 and have outscored its opponents 131-13 this season. Newport dropped to 2-1 with the loss and will host Stevens on Saturday.
West Canaan
Tucker Stenger netted a hat trick, Alex Schwarz had four assists and Micah McCullough and Cameron Holmes notched two goals and an assist each for Mascoma.
The Royals’ Jacob Dow added a goal and two assists, Kyle Langlais and James Disbrow added one goal each and Dartangnan Collins contributed an assist.
Brenden Halleck tallied the lone goal for Newport, unassisted.
Hunter Whyte (seven saves) and Elizabeth Pelton (two) split time in net for Mascoma, while Caleb Palmer made 10 stops for the Tigers.
Bradford, Vt.
Goalie Mason Brammell was solid during a busy day for Oxbow.
“It’s his first time playing varsity soccer, and he’s figured out a lot in three games,” O’s coach Barry Emerson said. “He was very aggressive, probably made 12-15 saves.”
Moretown, Vt.
Anthony Stoffel stopped 11 shots for Thetford, which hosts Rivendell on Tuesday.
Orford
Rivendell led 2-1 on scores from DeSouza (from Burgwedel) and Chris Gendron, but Sharon’s Sam Knoerlein scored from Olly Skeet-Browning in the 67th minute to force OT.
Josh Amodeo had scored an earlier goal for the Phoenix (3-2), assisted by Trabyn Fisk.
“It was a big win for us because we’d been idle for 11 days,” Rivendell coach Bob Thatcher said. “It was a very good game for our backs, Griffin Formica, Max Haehnel, and Wyatt Suich and midfielders Collin Gould and Chris Gendron.”
Raptors goalie Dashiel Fukushima made 15 saves and Thatcher Morrison had 18 for the Phoenix.
Brandon, Vt.
Ben Rouillard netted the first two scores, one with an assist to goalie Jordy Allard and the second from Ben Healy.
The latter came in the 34th minute, four minutes before Kyle Prior’s goal on a crossing pass from Callum Brittain.
Allard made three saves before yielding to Nicholas Dorain with 10 minutes to play.
South Royalton
Brais Figueroa (assist), Nicholas Howe and Connor Lambert had two goals each, Jacob Hewitt had a goal and two assists and Stephen Paige, George Carr and Dalton McDougall each tallied a goal and an assist.
Sam Fisk and Forrest Pellerin added one goal each for the Royals, who had strong goaltending from Jayson Perron (first half; four saves) and Fisk (three).
Ludlow, Vt.
Cam O’Brien, Grady Gilman, Tate Hurd and Tristan Robison also scored for the Yellowjackets, and Elijah Collier, Jacob Curtis, Vincent Moeykens and Brandon Tillman each had an assist Ryan Saucier (zero saves) and freshman Eli Milligan (two) split time in net for Windsor, which visits Stevens on Wednesday.
Meriden
Thomas Pierce scored on a penalty kick in the 32nd minute to put KUA on the board. Seth Stadheim headed home a goal off a feed from Tucker Williams. Will Harrigan then converted on another feed from Williams for what turned out to be the game-winner. Dube finished with six saves for the Wildcats.
Wilmington, Vt.
Windsor trailed 2-0 at halftime but answered back with two goals from Olivia Rockwood after the break. Anika Abrahamsen and Annie Soho had assists. Goalie Kaycee Hershel had 12 saves for the Jacks (1-3).
South Royalton
Bailey Wing, Kylie Hebard and Eliza Maybe scored for SoRo. The Royals scored once in the first half and then two more early in the second to lead 3-0. Emily Ballou had two assists.
Goalie Cassidy Wolf had 19 saves for the Royals (1-2).
Orford
Maya Johnstone and Elanor Frost had assists for the Phoeniex, and keeper Abby Levy made nine saves. Mikayla DeBois scored for Rivendell.
Meriden
Keeper Olivia Brooker earned the shutout for KUA. The Wildcats host Northfield Mount Herman on Wednesday.
Durham, n.h.
Raphael Harriman (16th; 17:58.5) wasn’t too far behind, while Edward Bieszczad (40th; 19:11.2), Noah McIntire (53rd; 19:41) and Cody Davis (54th; 19:42.6) rounded out the scoring for the Raiders.
Patrick O’Brien of host Oyster River won the boys race in 15:54.5.
Kelly Arsenault of third-place Winnacunnet won the girls race, while Lebanon placed ninth.
Grace Furlong (18th; 22:07.2) led the way for the Raiders, followed by Hannah Falcone (29th; 22:43.5), Maria Goodwin (56th; 25:10.2), Shelby Hanks (59th; 25:37.8) and Josie Bourne (83rd; 27:42.3).
Lebanon heads to the Manchester Invitational this Saturday.

Giesing, an Olympians junior, clocked in at 20 minutes, 59 seconds. Harwood’s Erin Magill was first in 20:18. Oxbow also had Leanne Burgess in 49th and Jessie Daigle in 85th.
William Douglas led the 17th place Oxbow boys with a 45th place finish out of 137 runners, finishing in 20:05. Jon Puffer was just behind in 60th at 20:47. The Olympians also had Tim Rudder in 109th, Briggs Heffernan in 112th, Tyrus Rosten in 128th and Aidan Bowles in 131st.
West Canaan
Mascoma’s strong-side hitter Sydney Thompson (eight kills, four aces), setter Kaelyn Gelinas (Four kills, two aces) and libero Amy Lebrecque all played strong matches for the Royals (1-3).
Mascoma plays at InterLakes on Wednesday.
