Hanover — Anna Dickson’s goal five minutes into the second half allowed the Hanover High girls soccer team to defeat previously-unbeaten Pembroke, 2-1, Friday night at Merriman-Branch Field.

Cate Wagner assisted on Dickson’s deciding tally. Defender Mindy Wu scored off a J.J. Taube corner kick during the ninth minute to put the Marauders up, 1-0. The Spartans (6-1) forged a tie 10 minutes later but the second half belonged to the hosts.

Mahler Meyerrose made five saves for Hanover (5-1), which visits Trinity on Tuesday.

Lebanon 1, Plymouth 0 (ot)

Lebanon — Anna Wolke converted a direct kick with three seconds remaining in the first overtime period to give the Raiders their second consecutive victory. It was Wolke’s second goal in as many games.

Kassidee Rogers made five saves for Lebanon (2-5), which travels to Kennett on Wednesday.

Hillsboro-Deering 4Newport 1

Hillsboro, n.h. — Rachel Stark scored Newport’s lone goal in the 65th minute.

Anna Pysz made 20 saves in goal, an effort that Newport head coach Jon Hamel called, “oustanding. And that’s not a misprint. She was active and did a superior job. The score could have been much greater than it was.”

Newport (3-3) travels to Stevens on Monday. Game time has been moved to 6:30 p.m.

Milton 3, Woodstock 0

Woodstock — Wasps goalkeeper Brittany Poljacik made 15 saves but Milton scored twice during the first half and converted a penalty kick after intermission.

Woodstock (2-3) hosts Middlebury on Monday.

Stowe 4, Oxbow 2

Bradford, Vt. — The Olympians fell in a rematch of last year’s Vermont Division III championship game, also won by the Raiders.

Jill Smith scored on a corner-kick feed from Claire Cook and Natalie Barton netted an unassisted goal as Oxbow took a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Stowe’s depth eventually caught up to Oxbow, coach Charlie Barton noted.

“They lost two players from last year’s team and are loaded with juniors and seniors. We lost eight,” said Barton, who’s in his first year as Oxbow’s coach.

Kaysea Neil made seven saves for the O’s, who were outshot 14-11. Oxbow plays the third of four consecutive home games Wednesday against Hazen.

Boys Soccer Hanover 5, Spaulding 1

Rochester, n.h. — Charlie Adams scored a goal and added three second-half assists, all to players scoring their first varsity goals.

Alvaro Cooper, Nico Mayo-Pushee and Bauti Gallino all got their first career tallies. Gallino and Cooper also had assists. Sam Strobehn scored in the first half to get Hanover on the board. The Marauders outshot Spaulding, 19-1, and host Nashua South on Tuesday.

Plymouth, n.h. — Graham Chickering scored 80 seconds into the game, beginning a dominating performance for the Raiders.

Luke Sandmann, Owen Johnstone and Nate Gariepy each added goals. Johnstone, Gariepy and Julian Stott all had helpers. The Raiders (6-1) host Kennett on Tuesday.

Craftsbury 6, MVCS 0

Quechee — The Chargers dropped the Eagles to 1-2. Freshman Stan Nelson made four saves in his first varsity start for Mid Vermont, which visits Danville on Tuesday.

Black River 2, Windsor 1

Ludlow, Vt. — Vincent Moeykens scored the lone goal for Windsor in the first half, capping off a frustrating night for the Yellowjackets’ offense in the first leg of the Josh Cole Tournament.

“Probably every miss you could possibly dream of,” Windsor coach Andy Tufts said.

Windsor will play Bellows Falls in the consolation game at 6 tonight.

Football Stevens 42, Newfound 16

Bristol, n.h. — The Cardinals (3-0) got offensive production from expected sources. Richard Bell scored touchdowns of 2 and 11 yards and racked up over 100 yards rushing. Quarterback Henri Bourque hit target Parker Smith for a 77-yard touchdown pass. Derrick Stanhope also scored his first varsity touchdown on a 4-yard run during the second quarter.

The Cardinals (3-0) face one of their biggest tests of the season next Saturday, traveling to Newport.

Catholic Memorial 34Hartford 6

White River Junction — The Hurricanes (2-1; 2-0 Vermont Division I) fell to the Massachusetts Division I Knights (1-1).

Gavin Farnsworth scored Hartford’s touchdown late in the fourth quarter and on a 10-yard run.

Catholic Memorial led, 27-0, at halftime, then extended its lead the first time it touched the ball in the third quarter on Mike Giacobbe’s 70-yard punt return. The Hurricanes host BFA-St. Albans on Friday.

Windsor 56, Springfield 6

Springfield, Vt. — Seth Balch threw a pair of touchdown passes, one to Hunter Patenaude and another to Dakota Page. Patenaude also returned a punt for a touchdown for the Jacks (3-0).

Trevor Worrall had an 80-yard touchdown run and Caleb Harrington had an interception return for a touchdown for Windsor.

Harrington, a tight end, was also part of an offensive line that “blocked phenomenally well,” according to Jacks coach Greg Balch.

Center Duncan Frazer, guards Ben Meagher and Trenton Allen and tackles Josh Griep and Gavin Harriman were the other offensive linemen for Windsor, which hosts Otter Valley on Saturday.

Field Hockey Stevens 4, Newport 0

Claremont — The Cardinals (5-1) scored all of their goals in the first half and bounced back from their first loss of the season on Monday at Mascenic. Newport slipped to 1-4.

Becca Moody scored twice and Elyse Scott and Scotlyn Daignault once each for Stevens. Cardinals goaltender Marion Lovett had the game’s lone assist, setting up Daignault’s tally.

Katy Jurado made five stops for the Tigers and Tess Whitney made one save for Stevens, which is back at home Tuesday against Hopkinton. Newport visits Monadnock on Tuesday.

Cross Country St. J Sweeps at Hanover

Hanover — St. Johnsbury Academy’s boys and girls swept the Marauders and Bow in a three-team race at Storrs Pond Recreation Area.

Danville (Vt.) High’s Riley Fenoff won the boys race in 17 minutes, 40 seconds. Fenoff trains with nearby St. Johnsbury because the Indians have no cross country team.

Henry Mackall (19:20) placed fourth for Hanover, followed by teammates Joseph Jacobs (eighth; 19:34), Jack Lynch (14th; 20:24), Greg Phillips (15th; 20:27) and Daniel Bandler (16th; 20:28).

St. Johnsbury’s Annie Cunningham won the girls race in 21:17, 11 seconds ahead of teammate Rebecca Green.

Hanover’s Leila Trummel placed third in 21:51, with teammates Kennedy Lange (fifth; 23:03), Elsa Nordstrom (sixth; 23:08), Emily Bregou (10th; 23:41) and Kirsten Miller (11th; 23:45) not too far behind.

Boys team scores: St. Johnsbury 18; Hanover 49; Bow 71.

Girls team scores: St. Johnsbury 22; Hanover 35; Bow 77.

Golf Lebanon Suffers First Loss

Candia, n.h. — The speed of Candia Woods Golf Links got the better of the Raiders, who fell to Derryfield on the Cougars’ home turf.

Hunter Marsh led the way for the Raiders with a 41 on Candia’s par 35. Alex Bitler shot 44, Graham Ten-Haken shot 46 and Kevin Kiernan shot 47.

Lebanon finished 21 strokes behind Derryfield.

Volleyball Somersworth 3, Hanover 0

Hanover — The Marauders lost in straight sets, 25-17, 25-19, 25-20.

Hanover (1-4) plays at Gilford on Monday.
