Bullwinkle, adoptable from Upper Valley Humane Society

“Hi, my name is Bullwinkle! I’m a sweet 1-year-old young man looking for a loving home! I would prefer an active home with people who will continue to work on training with me. I love to have fun and act goofy. I adore anyone who pays attention to me.

“I enjoy car rides, toys and hanging out with people. I can live with children 12 and up and dogs pending introductions.

“My meet-your-match canine personality is ‘free spirit.’ I’m intelligent, independent, confident and clever. I prefer making my own decisions but will listen to you if you make a good case. We’re partners in this adventure. Treat me like one and we’ll both live happily ever after.”

Bullwinkle is up for adoption from the Upper Valley Humane Society, located at 300 Old Route 10 in Enfield and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. The Upper Valley Humane Society is also on Facebook and Instagram and can be reached at 603-448-6888.

Polly, adoptable from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society

“Hi! My name’s Polly and I’m a 4-year-old spayed female. I was adopted from Lucy Mackenzie three years ago, but was recently brought back when my family could no longer care for me. My buddies Kit and Oliver, who were also adopted from here years ago, came back, too. We’re an easy-going, loving bunch, to put it mildly!

“I like people a lot. I like to be pet, I like cuddles, and I like to play. I like other cats, too. If you’ve been looking for a kitty companion that will fill your life with lots of love, stop in and meet me today!”

Polly is up for adoption from Lucy Mackenzie Humane Society, located at 4832 Route 44 in West Windsor and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday, 12-4 p.m. Lucy Mackenzie is also on Facebook and Twitter and can be reached at 802-484-5829.

Donald, adoptable from River Valley Animal Protection League

Donald is a maniac. That’s all there is to it. He is a 16-week-old ball of energy and craziness. We put toys in his cage and by the time the next volunteer comes in he has knocked all of them out onto the floor.

He climbs the sides of his cage to try and get the attention of his neighbors or to catch those neighbors’ tails if the opportunity presents itself. He has to be fed in a heavy dish because he’ll play with that, too, if he can get it to move. He always wants attention, always wants to play, and he will improvise in order to get what he wants. After he has tired himself out playing with everything he can get his paws on, Donald does settle down and enjoys cuddling.

Donald’s siblings were recently adopted and now he’s the only one left. As much as we enjoy his silliness, we hope to find him a family with a little room for some crazy while he’s still a kitten and an understanding that he will grow up, too.

Come see Donald and our other available kittens during open hours!

Donald is up for adoption from the River Valley Animal Protection League, located at 60 Cummings Ave. in Charlestown and open to the public Mondays, 4-7 p.m., and Saturdays, 1-4 p.m., or by appointment by calling 603-826-3061. The River Valley Animal Protection League is also on Facebook.

Jordan, adoptable from Potter’s Angels Rescue

Fetch. It’s a game that’s probably been around as long as dogs and people have been together. Jordan is a fetch-playing professional, and his foster mom is amazed at his prowess. He will fetch his ball and bring it right to you. If he doesn’t think it’s close enough, he will pick it up and bring it closer to you. She’s pretty sure he’d play fetch from dawn to dusk!

Jordan is a 9-year-old English cocker spaniel mix who weighs 22 pounds. He’s affectionate, eager to please and joyful, but he’s also got a skittish and fearful side. To top it off, he lost an eye recently. He’s all healed up, and he’s made a tremendous recovery.

Jordan is one of those little dogs that doesn’t really know how little he is. He took on a dog nearly three times his size, and he got the raw end of the deal, losing his eye. He does OK with smaller dogs, but he certainly tries to show the big dogs that he’s the boss. We think that Jordan would be best as an only dog or with a mild mannered dog. He does well with older children, and he loves foster mom’s teenage daughters.

His foster mom says that she leaves him out in the house when she is gone, and he is not destructive. He will bark initially when left alone, but he does quiet down. Foster mom is working on crate training this little guy, but it’s a work in progress. Life has thrown Jordan some curve balls of late, and we understand that he is going to need some time to adjust and settle in. That said, we know that he is also a very spunky, ‘don’t back down’ kind of guy. It’s his greatest strength and his greatest weakness. He startles easily, so we would recommend that his new family be patient and calm with him. He does enjoy the company of his people, and he is very loving with his foster family.

In the rescue business we see all sorts of dogs with all sorts of strengths and weaknesses. Jordan is one of the dogs who has great strengths and a few weaknesses that will require him to be homed with patient and loving people. We are happy to answer any questions you might have about Jordan, and we want you to know that his happiness and yours are very important to us as a rescue.

Jordan is up for adoption from Potter’s Angels Rescue, based in East Randolph. Submit an application here. Potter’s Angels is also on Facebook.
