White River Junction
Lyndsie Rice and Sarah Jones each scored for the Hurricanes. White made nine saves in regulation and overtime. Rice’s goal came with just .02 seconds on the clock in the first half, just after White’s penalty kick save. Jones scored in the first minute of the second half.
“Both teams had really good chances,” Hartford head coach Jeff Acker said.
The Hurricanes will look for their first win on Wednesday at home against Woodstock.
Cabot, Vt.
“She could have had 15 (goals),” Sharon head coach Blake Fabrikant said.
The Phoenix jumped to a 5-1 lead at halftime. Meghan Shirley, normally a defender, scored her first two varsity goals. Eleanor Frost and Grace Dorman each netted goals of their own. Frost and Maya Johnstone also had one assist each. Abby Levy made four saves in goal.
“It’s tough to see where we need to work on after a game like today,” Fabrikant said. “We had a solid preseason. … That momentum kind of carried into today. It was encouraging. The goals came pretty naturally.”
Sharon (1-0) is slated to host Twinfield on Tuesday.
Windsor
Brooke McKeen and Olivia Rockwood each added assists on Soho’s goals. Kaycee Herschel made five saves in goal, including a diving stop on a breakaway to preserve the Yellowjackets’ lead.
“We really controlled the tempo,” Windsor head coach Bruce Mackay said. “We had a bunch of quality shots that probably should have gone in. … Their goalie was young, but very athletic.”
Windsor (1-0) travels to Thetford on Wednesday.
North Clarendon, Vt.
The Minutemen held a 28-7 lead in the third quarter.
Oxbow drew to within two scores in the fourth, but ran out of steam.
The Olympians (0-1) will host Windsor next Saturday.
Cabot, Vt.
“We were slow in the first half. The second half, we improved,” he said.
“We managed a lot of shots. Possession wise, we dominated. But the team took a hard lesson today, when you don’t finish those chances it’ll come back and haunt you.”
Sharon’s Alex Olszewski broke through in the second half to end the scoreless tie.
But Cabot came up with the equalizer with two minutes to go in regulation time and added the game winner in the second overtime period. Phoenix senior goalkeeper Thatcher Morrison made two saves.
Sharon (0-1) hosts Twinfield on Wednesday.
Albany, n.y.
The Big Green’s offense came from Carmen Braceras, who scored her first career goal in the 45th minute.
The Great Danes got tallies from 2014 National Player of the Year and three-time All-American Paula Heuser as well as Anna Bottino and Jaclyn Hibbs.
Sophomore Hailey Valerio made her first career start in goal for Dartmouth, stopping eight shots.
The Big Green (0-1) travels to Maine on Monday.
Lexington, Ky.
Dartmouth’s lone goal came on a penalty shot from junior defenseman Wyatt Omsberg, who slipped the ball underneath the goalie’s finger tips to open the scoring. Kentucky netted the equalizer just after the halftime break as the Wildcats’ Connor Probert beat Dartmouth goaltender James Hickok to the near post.
The Big Green is 0-0-1 this season.
New London
Colby-Sawyer’s two points came in singles play. Evelyn Miller won in three sets at the second flight over Sofia Morais. Miller took the first set 6-3, but Morais evened the match with a 6-4 victory in the second.
With the match already in hand for SNHU, Miller won a pro set 10-7 to win her match.
Colby-Sawyer (1-1) travels to Saint Michael’s, like SNHU an NCAA Division-II foe, today.
Fairfield, Conn.
Senior Emily Astarita accumulated 16 kills in the first match and 12 in the second to lead all teams throughout the day.
Classmate Stacey Benton led in assists (17 vs. George Mason, 15 vs. Sacred Heart) and Danielle Glinka had a team-leading eight digs in the final match of the weekend.
The Big Green remains undefeated this season at 3-0 and hosts the two-day, nine-match Dartmouth Invitational against Army, Hartford, Niagara and Central Connecticut State starting next Friday.
