Goffstown, n.h. — Contributions from up and down the lineup helped the Hanover High golf team to a four-stroke victory over host Goffstown at Stonebridge Country Club.

Matthew Suriawinata led Hanover with a 2-over-par 37 while playing out of the No. 8 spot in the Marauders’ lineup. Brian Seltzer followed with a 38 and Finn Hackett had 39. David Lehmann and Phin Choukas each had 40.

Goffstown’s Curtis McKay won the medal with a 34 on his home track.

Hanover (6-1) visits Souhegan on Tuesday.

Stevens Second

Keene, n.h. — The Stevens Cardinals took second in a three-team match in their season debut at Bretwood Golf Course.

Monadnock’s Izzy Avilez and Kearsarge’s Jake Bears tied for the medal with a 40. Teagan Daignault led Stevens with a 41. Cody Schoolcraft (42) and Ian MacDonald (46) also had strong showings for the Cardinals followed by Andrew Friend (53), Tim Berry (55) and Hunter LaClair (55).

Team scores: Kearsarge 172, Stevens 182, Monadnock 208.

Field Hockey

Hanover 4, Plymouth 0

Hanover — The Marauders broke it open with all four goals in the second half to pick up their first victory of the season.

Junior Tessa Cahoon started the rally with her first career varsity goal, converting on a nice feed down the right side by Isabelle Sangha five minutes after halftime. Diana Schwarz followed less than a minute later with a goal off a rebound to put the Raiders up, 2-0.

Sangha then assisted on a Johanna Copeland goal. Freshman Katie Naughton closed the scoring with her first varsity goal; Schwarz assisted. Goalie Sophie Cardenali had three saves.

Hanover (1-1) visits Derryfield on Tuesday.

Derryfield 2, Lebanon 0

Manchester — Playing on turf for the first time this season and at one of the top teams in New Hampshire D-II, the Raiders improved over the duration of the game and had multiple good scoring chances late.

“We’re still very young and learning to play together,” Lebanon coach Deb Beach said. “By the end of the second half, we were doing very well and actually had some good opportunities at the end.”

Emily Hunnewell returned to the field after missing time due to an injury in the preseason and provided a spark on the backline. Goalie Hope Brown had a strong game. according to Beach. Lebanon (1-1) hosts Hanover on Sept. 9.

Twin Valley 4, Windsor 1

Wilmington, Vt. — Tristin Robison’s goal, assisted by Hunter Grela, accounted for Windsor’s scoring in a season-opening loss to Twin Valley.

Ryan Saucier made six saves in goal for Windsor, which greets Oxbow on Tuesday.

Girls Soccer

Hillsboro-Deering 3, Stevens 0

Claremont — The Cardinals were blanked by the visiting Hillcats, dropping the hosts to 1-1.

Goalie Amber Duford had 12 saves for Stevens, which plays at Hopkinton on Wednesday.

Kearsarge 1, Lebanon 0

North Sutton, n.h. — The Cougars stifled the Lebanon attack, dropping the Raiders to 0-3. Lebanon visits Trinity on Tuesday.

Boys Soccer

Fall Mountain 6, Mascoma 2

Langdon, n.h. — The Royals suffered their first loss of the season.

Alex Schwarz and Cameron Holmes scored for Mascoma (1-1-1). Keeper Hunter Whyte had 17 saves. The Royals host Newfound on Tuesday afternoon.

Women’s College TennisColby-Sawyer 6, Gordon 2

New London — The Chargers opened their season with a strong showing against the Fighting Scots.

Evelyn Miller and Aislinn O’Connor won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles for the hosts. Lauren Blanchard and Christine Hill then won 8-3 at third doubles. Top doubles pairing Ashley Woodside and Maddy Gemerek lost 6-8 in a tight battle.

Gemerek and O’Connor each won their singles matches in straight sets. Blanchard and Hill each won three-set battles to help the Chargers clinch four of five singles matches. Colby-Sawyer (1-0) hosts Southern New Hampshire on Saturday.

Women’s SoccerColby-Sawyer 1Norwich 0 (2 ot)

New London — Emily Martin’s overtime strike lifted the Chargers to a thrilling victory to open the season.

The Chargers out-shot Norwich 46-6 but Cadets’ keeper Leandra Flores-Nieves had 20 saves. Colby-Sawyer counterpart Sam Mitchell had three saves. The Chargers host Middlebury on Wednesday.

Men’s College SoccerColby-Sawyer 3, Curry 0

New London — New head coach Charles Metz and the Chargers earned a victory in their season opener over Curry.

Jake Sykes put Colby-Sawyer on top in the 37th minute when he finished a through ball from Denali Sexton. Sykes returned the favor seven minutes later when he set up Sexton for a goal off a give-and-go. Sexton then headed home Colby-Sawyer’s third goal of the game in the 77th minute off a corner kick from Andrew Clothier.

Chargers keepers Shane Sacks and Jake Towle combined to make four saves.

Colby-Sawyer (1-0) hosts Daniel Webster on Saturday.
