The Valley News has compiled a map of thrift stores that support nonprofit organizations, their hours and what items they have. See the map below or click here for a larger version that will also display better if you’re on a smartphone.

This list was inspired, in part, by my own experiences. When I moved to the Upper Valley barely two weeks after graduating from college, I lacked many of the necessary items I needed to make my apartment liveable: pots and pans, bookcases, glasses.

And then there’s the process of making a living space a home: posters and photographs to decorate walls, vases for flowers and urns that could double as storage and display items.

Of course, too, there was my need for winter-appropriate New England attire: wool sweaters, corduroy pants and long-sleeved shirts.

So, I know the value of thrift stores well, and especially appreciate those that support community organizations — but let me know if I missed any. Email me at esauchelli@vnews.com.
