Enfield
A grand opening ceremony will take place immediately following the Enfield Old Home Days Parade at noon, at the land adjoining the bypass road near Shaker Bridge, according to an announcement by the Mascoma Lakeside Park Committee.
Beginning on Saturday, the park will include a non-motorized boat launch and four picnic tables. The project will continue over phases, with signage and landscaping planned for 2017, and a long-term plan that includes public restrooms, an amphitheatre, public parking, walking trails and a multi-use building.
The land consists of two lots owned by the Department of Transportation, and will be subject to a long-term management agreement with the town of Enfield. A 501(c)(3) organization is being formed to accept grant dollars, according to the announcement.

Lebanon
The plan is the subject of a public forum at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Wellspring Worship Center at 407 North Main St.
The area is currently zoned for residential and rural development, but officials say recent development has included a mix of commercial, institutional and large residential projects. The Wheeler Professional Park, Hanover Veterinary Clinic, A.B. Gile Insurance Agency and Pinewood Village Condominiums all call the area home.
The planning department is instead proposing a mixed-use district that would allow one- and two-family dwellings above commercial spaces, 3,000-square-foot offices and cluster subdivisions. Recreational facilities, restaurants and day care facilities would be allowed with special exceptions.
The results of today’s meeting will impact regulations the City Council is scheduled to consider in September. If the council approves the regulations, they will go before the voters in March.
Anyone with comments or questions who is unable to attend the meeting is asked to contact David Brooks, the city’s director of planning and zoning, by calling 603-448-1457 or emailing david.brooks@lebcity.com.
St. Johnsbury, Vt.
Walter Richters, of Hardwick, Vt., was sentenced Tuesday in St. Johnsbury under a plea deal with prosecutors. He was given credit for 1½ years he’s already served.
Richters pleaded guilty in October to manslaughter in the 2014 death of 13-year-old Isaac Robitille at the Hardwick home they shared with Isaac’s mother.
The 38-year-old Richters also agreed to testify against the boy’s mother, Melissa Robitille, who police say approved giving her son vodka through the intravenous tube because the child was “being fussy.”
