Brownsville
The food shelf serves more than 80 families “who are dependent upon them year round,” according to a news release from Brownsville Community Church, which is holding themed collections for the nonprofit.
July will have a picnic theme, with a focus on condiments and “kid-friendly” items, according to the release. “When school is in session, kids can usually count on having lunches available. However, during summer school break, that’s not the case, so kid-friendly foods will fill that void.”
Donations of sunscreens are also encouraged during the summer months. General donation suggestions include canned and boxed food, fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, and gently used clothing.
Items can be dropped off Sundays at the church, 66 Brownsville-Hartland Road; at the food shelf collection box at the Brownsville Post Office; and at the Leys’ house (Parris Hill Farm), 637 Brownsville-Hartland Road, 802-484-3200.
Donations will also be collected on July 4th in the firehouse and at the church’s pancake breakfast.
