South Burlington, Vt. — Rivendell’s Owen Pelletier posted two event victories and Oxbow’s Izzy Giesing ran to another win to highlight local participation in Saturday’s Coaches vs. Cancer twilight track and field meet at South Burlington High School.

Participating as an individual, Pelletier continued to soar over his competition in both the high jump and long jump. The Rivendell junior won both, recording a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches in the former and 21 feet in the latter.

Giesing continued her distance dominance by winning the girls mile in 5 minutes, 23.83 seconds. She also placed fourth in the javelin (93-8), with twin sister Hannah Giesing also recording fourths in the 400 dash (1:03.43) and 200 dash (28.20).

The Olympians also recorded team points in three different relay races with rosters populated largely by sophomores and freshmen. Coach Emily Willems took a relatively small roster to the meet because of conflicts with prom.

Woodstock also sent a contingent to the meet. Grace Vollers had the best day, taking second in the girls javelin (103-8).

Holderness, n.h. — The Wildcats moved within one match of their third straight perfect season by dominating the Bulls on Saturday.

Erin Gregory-Davis and Charlotte Greenspan snagged straight-sets wins to get Kimball Union going in singles play. Kelly Do and Hana Caloras advanced KUA with third-set tiebreaker victories, and No. 1 Christina Ryan clinched the team decision with her own three-set win, also decided in a tiebreaker.

The Wildcats (8-0) host New Hampton on Wednesday in their home finale.

Newry, Maine — Hanover High’s Arturo Johnson joined a pack sprint to the finish on Saturday, finishing the Grafton Notch Challenge in 1 hour, 12 minutes, 23 seconds for the Marauders’ top result.

Phillips Exeter’s Garrett Kimball gained credit for the boys B Division win in the 21-mile uphill race. Hanover’s Grant Woods was 11 seconds behind the pack in seventh place. Teammate Payton Stearns was 16th.
