Langdon, n.h. — Standout performances from both Corinne Kennedy and Ryan Milliken helped the Lebanon track & field teams to high finishes at Saturday’s Connecticut Valley Conference championship meet at Fall Mountain Regional High.

Kennedy led the second-place Lebanon girls with three first-place finishes. The junior star won the 100-meter hurdles by almost a full second, clocking in at 15.37 seconds. Kennedy was even more dominant in the 300-meter hurdles, winning by almost five seconds with a time of 44.97 seconds. Kennedy also took first in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 4 inches.

Milliken had a pair of first-place finishes for the third-place Raider boys, winning the 100-meter dash in 11.60 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 23.74 seconds. Milliken added a fourth place finish in the long jump.

The Merchant twins racked up the points in field events for the Lebanon girls. Kath Merchant won the javelin, was second in both the shot put and discus and was fourth in the pole vault. Kim Merchant was third in both the javelin and shot put and was fifth in the discus.

Lebanon’s Lauren Anikis won the triple jump and was second in the high jump. The Raiders’ other first-place finish came in the 4×100-meter relay. Sophia Miller was third in the 300-meter hurdles and sixth in the triple jump. Chloe Wadlinger was sixth in the high jump. Sprinter Emily Miller was second in the 200-meter dash in 28.06 seconds, fourth in the 400-meter dash and sixth in the 100-meter dash.

The Lebanon boys had one other first-place finish, taking the top spot in the 4×100-meter relay while adding a second place finish in the 4×400-meter relay. Ryan Sullivan was second in the high jump, clearing 5-10 and was third in the long jump. Walker Tuttle took second in shot put, Zack Petrin was fifth in the long jump and Nate Herndon was fourth in the 400-meter dash.

Hannah Wittmann led the fourth-place Hanover girls with a first place finish in the pole vault (10-8) and fourth in the high jump. Leila Trummel was third in the 3,200 meters and fourth in the 1,600 meters. The Marauders added a second place finish in the 4×400-meter relay. Johanna Bandler took second in the 400-meter dash and Elisabeth Nordstrom was runner-up in the 800 meters. Olivia Hinch took sixth in the 800 meters.

Ileana Sirois led a strong showing for the Hartford girls, winning the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 8 inches. Sirois added a third in the triple jump and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. Shanan Hamilton was fifth in both the 800 and 1,600 meters, and Jules Anderson took third in the discus for the Hurricanes.

Katey Comstock led the Windsor girls, winning the discus by almost seven feet with a throw of 124 feet, 2 inches. Comstock added a victory in the shot put and was second in the javelin.

Aly Lizotte won the 400-meter dash for the Stevens girls in 1:01.49. Lizotte added a third in the 100-meter dash and fifth in the 200. Meaggie Balch led the Thetford girls, finishing second in the 3,200 meters in 12:07.62. Hannah Harkins was fifth in the triple jump for the Panthers.

Freshmen sprinters Deveon Martin and Abayomi Lowe had very strong showings for the Hartford boys. Martin was second in both the 100 and 400 and took third in the 200. Lowe won the 400 meters in 53.27 seconds, just under two-tenths of a second in front of Martin in second. Lowe added a third in the 100 and fourth in the 200. Martin, Lowe, Lucas Benson and Matthew Phipps teamed to finish sixth in the 4×400-meter relay for the Canes.

“I’m really excited about the future of track at Hartford High,” Hurricanes coach Mike Perry said in an email. “We most certainly have a strong base to build on. We proved a lot of good things can happen with a small group.”

Morgan Baughman won the 3,200-meter run for the Hanover boys in 10:04.01 and took fourth in the 1,600. Robbie Murdza took third in the pole vault and Felix Herron was sixth in the 1,600.

Matthew Gobin led Stevens with a third place finish in the 110 hurdles and a fourth in the 100. Parker Smith took third in shot put and fifth in high jump, and the Cardinals added a second place finish in the 4×100-meter relay.

Thetford’s Chris Parenteau was fourth in the 110 hurdles and sixth in the 300 hurdles. Malcolm Silver-Van Meter was fifth in the 3,200-meters and Caleb Davidson took fifth in shot put for the Panthers.

Newport’s Peter Thibault finished sixth in the discus.

BaseballSouth Royalton 7, Arlington 1

South Royalton — Sophomore starter Dominick Small carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning for the Royals.

Small’s no-hit bid was broken up with a pair of seeing-eye singles in the top half of the final inning, one on a ground ball through the infield and another on a bloop hit over second base. Small finished with 10 strikeouts and walked just two.

“He’s pitching very well. He doesn’t get rattled, really keeps his composure and keeps throwing strikes, which is what you want,” South Royalton coach Mike Ballou said.

Nicholas Howe led the SoRo offensive attack, going 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Dalton McDougall was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Justin Brock had two hits and drove in one, and Small added an RBI single. The Royals (10-1) visit Green Mountain on Tuesday.

Sunapee 17, Hinsdale 0

Sunapee — The Lakers allowed only one hit to extend their winning streak to 11.

Cole Cruz led the offense with three hits and four RBIs,while Mike Platt added two hits and three runs scored. Will Austin and Nick Ducharme split time on the mound.

Sunapee (11-1) hosts Wilton-Lydeborough on Thursday before traveling to Cooperstown, N.Y., to take on Derryfield next Saturday.

Brattleboro 2, Hartford 1

Brattleboro, Vt. — Dylan Spencer did all he could on the mound for the Hurricanes, but in the end it wasn’t enough.

Spencer gave up three hits and one earned run in seven innings of work, recording five strikeouts and three walks. Spencer is 2-2 in four starts this season with an ERA of less than 0.5, and allowed his first earned run in the loss to Brattleboro.

“I couldn’t have asked for anything more,” Hartford coach Jarrod Grassi said. “I feel bad for the kid.”

Hartford managed only four hits in the game, extending its losing streak to four straight. Hartford has allowed three earned runs in the skid and has a team ERA of 1.38. But as Grassi said, his team isn’t hitting. “We just can’t find runs,” he said. “We have to find a way to score.”

Nate Walz scored Hartford’s only run in the third inning, driven in by Spencer. Hartford (6-5) will host Hanover on Tuesday.

Rivendell 11, Twinfield 4

Orford — Rivendell’s Dametres Perry recorded 12 strikeouts, allowed four hits, four walks and two earned runs.

Perry shut out Twinfield in the last five innings after giving up four runs in the first two. Dashiel Fukushima led the way offensively with three hits, four RBIs and four runs, Charlie Bradley added two hits and an RBI, Colin Gould added two hits and two RBIs and Sam Tilden added two hits and drove in three.

“We’re hitting a little better the last two games,” Rivendell head coach Eric Reichert said. “We’re getting back to basic mechanics. I’m happy with the way we’re hitting.”

The Raptors (2-7) host Blue Mountain on Monday.

Whitcomb-Rochester 21 West Rutland 4 (5)

West Rutland — Sophomore Kevin Kingsbury threw five strikeouts and allowed three walks and one earned run in five innings of work for the Mountaineers.

Kingsbury also led the offense with four hits and four RBIs. Isaac Hodgdon had two hits and one RBI and Zac Gillette had two hits and two RBIs. Whitchester scored 13 runs in the fourth inning. The Mountaineers (3-7) host Twinfield on Tuesday in Bethel.

Hollis-Brookline 1, Hanover 0

Hollis, n.h. — Moises Celaya tossed a five-hitter, but took a tough-luck loss when the Cavaliers scored in the bottom of the sixth to break a scoreless tie.

Celaya struck out four and walked just one in six innings. Celaya also had two of the three Hanover hits. The Marauders (3-7) visit John Stark on Monday.

SoftballSouth Royalton 18Arlington 2 (6)

South Royalton — Rachel Moore led the way for the Royals on senior day.

Moore pitched all six innings, striking out six, walking four, allowing two hits and two earned runs, and helped herself offensively with two runs, two hits, a double and two RBIs in the victory. Mara Southworth led the offense with three runs, three hits, a double and two RBIs. Moore, Summer Spaudling and Brittany Frary were all honored on South Royalton’s senior day.

The Royals (7-5) travel to Rivendell on Thursday.

Twinfield 26, Rivendell 5

Orford — The Raptors lost at home and now look forward to hosting Blue Mountain on Monday afternoon.

West Rutland 14Whitcomb-Rochester 6

West Rutland — West Rutland jumped ahead to an eight-run win.

Whitchester’s Laura Vaillancourt gave up five hits, 11 runs, hit five batters, walked eight and struck out two in the loss. Amelia Mattrick entered the game in the seventh and allowed five hits and three runs.

Lindsey LaPerle hit a leadoff triple in the first inning, helping the Mountaineers jump to a 2-0 lead. Shannon Ludwig added two hits, one double and an RBI in the loss.

Whitchester (4-7) hosts Twinfield on Tuesday in Bethel.

Hollis-Brookline 15, Hanover 0

Hollis, n.h. — The Marauders dropped to 0-12 and will visit John Stark on Monday.

New Hampton 4, KUA 0

Meriden — Kimball Union pitcher Kayleigh Coombs struck out nine batters, walked none and gave up no earned runs despite the Wildcats’ loss. Coombs and Halle Clark each recorded a hit and Ashley Smith was solid behind the plate, coach Eileen Wiliams said.

Girls LacrosseOyster River 12, Lebanon 8

Durham, n.h. — The Bobcats scored three straight goals after halftime to take the lead for good against the visiting Raiders (5-4).

Elle Brine led Lebanon with four goals and an assist. Katie Berthasavage added two goals. Caroline Wren and Cecila Webber each had a goal, Izzy Walker had an assist and goalie Elizabeth Jones had 12 saves.

Lebanon led 6-5 at halftime, but was unable to keep up its offensive momentum after the break. The Raiders visit Hopkinton on Tuesday.

Hanover 11, Portsmouth 10

Portsmouth, n.h. — Molly Siebel led the Marauder offense with four goals and two assists.

Cate Wagner added a goal and three assists, Maddie Lyons netted two goals, Johanna Copeland added a goal and one helper and Sonthaya Lacy and Perrin Milliken each netted one goal. Katlyn Hurd made eight saves. Hanover (7-3) travels to Merrimack on Monday.

Holderness, n.h. — Goalie Kate Fowler (11 saves) anchored a very strong effort by the KUA defense at Holderness.

Coach Barb Pollard praised the entire defensive unit of Greta Close, Taylor Dudek, Kelsie Worth, Miranda Judd and Kelsey Pollard along with Fowler’s play in goal. Maddy Gesner and Aurora Braswell each had three goals and one assist. Maisie O’Shea had two goals and one assist, and Julia Denny and Close each had one goal.

Men’s TennisBig Green DropsNCAA First-Round Match

Chapel Hill, n.c. — Dartmouth fell to Tulane, 4-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on Saturday.

The Big Green wrapped up the 2016 season with an 18-9 mark, while the Green Wave improved to 16-8 and will play in the second round of the tournament on Sunday afternoon. This was Dartmouth’s first tournament appearance since 1997.

Tulane took the doubles point with 6-3 wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions, leaving play at No. 2 unfinished. Junior Max Schmidt and freshman Roko Glasnovic were barely trailing Constantin Schmitz and Tyler Schick, 5-4, when the match was ended early.
