Springfield, n.h.
State Police Trooper Michael McLaughlin said his agency has received reports of a paving crew using “high pressure sales tactics” to coerce residents into signing up for paving projects.
“According to one of the victims, a paving company arrived on his property on the morning of April 28th. The work crew then began unloading paving equipment and started working on his driveway,” McLaughlin said in a news release. “The homeowner reported that he was confused and confronted the paving crew.”
The company talked the victim into a “low-cost paving project,” but when the man got the bill, the price tag was “much larger than expected.”
Another victim agreed to pay over $10,000 before the company packed up and left his driveway in ruin, according to the release.
Anyone with information is urged to call McLaughlin at 603-223-8855 or to contact local authorities.

The Caledonian Record reports PeakCM, the contractor that built the hotel, had been withholding the certificates from resort ownership until unpaid debts from the development were settled.
PeakCM President Jerry Davis says he had an agreement with Burke Mountain to not open the hotel until he was paid the more than $5 million he was owed.
Davis said he believes the receiver “has a genuine interest” in making good on the payments, most of which is owed to subcontractors.
PeakCM now is owed approximately $3.9 million.
Burke Mountain officials are hoping to have the hotel open in November.
