New York — Tom Brady’s lawyers will get another two weeks to appeal his “Deflategate” suspension.

The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Manhattan said Brady could have until May 23 to decide whether to ask for a rehearing in front of the same three-judge panel or a new hearing — called “en banc” — in front of the entire circuit.

The court ruled 2-1 on April 25 that commissioner Roger Goodell was within his rights to suspend Brady for four games for his role in using improperly inflated footballs in the 2015 AFC championship game.

Brady was given two weeks to appeal. But since then, he has added top lawyer Ted Olson to his team.

Olson has experience arguing in front of the Supreme Court, including in the Bush v. Gore case that settled the 2000 presidential election. Olson was also involved in the case that overturned California’s ban on same-sex marriages.

Soccer Atletico in Champs League Final

Munich — A goal from Antoine Griezmann sent Atletico Madrid to the Champions League final for the second time in three seasons despite a 2-1 defeat at Bayern Munich on Tuesday.

Atletico, which lost to city rival Real Madrid in the 2014 final, progressed on the away goals rule with an aggregate score of 2-2 after winning the first leg of their semifinal in Madrid 1-0.

Atletico striker Fernando Torres had the chance to settle it with a late penalty, only for Manuel Neuer to save his spot kick.

Torres wasn’t the only one to miss from the spot.

Atletico’s Jan Oblak saved a penalty from Thomas Mueller in the first half, minutes after Xabi Alonso leveled the tie with a free kick in the 31st.

Griezmann scored in the 54th to put Atletico in the driving seat, before Robert Lewandowski headed Bayern back in front on the night in the 74th to set up a furious finale.

Golf Ex-British Open Champ Takes Break

Duluth, Ga. — Former British Open champion Stewart Cink says he is taking a break from golf after learning his wife has breast cancer.

Cink posted the news Tuesday on Twitter, saying the family is still in the process of figuring out “what she is fighting, and the uncertainty is difficult.”

He prefaced the short statement on Twitter by saying that his wife, Lisa, has been his biggest supporter since he was 15 and “it’s now time for me to return the favor.”

The statement says: “In order to assist Lisa in meeting the challenge, I will be stepping away from competitive golf until the circumstances improve for her. Hopefully that day will come quickly.”

Cink’s biggest victory was the 2009 British Open when he beat Tom Watson in a playoff at Turnberry.

Swimming Ex-Harvard Coach Banned by USA Swimming

Boston — Former Harvard and Fordham swim instructor Joe Bernal has been banned from coaching for life by USA Swimming, which says he violated sexual misconduct policies adopted to protect athletes.

The organization issued the ban on Feb. 23 for alleged violations of code-of-conduct policies.

Spokesman Scott Leightman declined to provide details, but he said in a statement that USA Swimming is “deeply committed to the safety and welfare of all its members.” He referenced its “safe sport program” and mission to “increase awareness to reduce the risk of abuse in sport.”

Bernal began his coaching career at Fordham, where he was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2009. He coached at Harvard from 1977 to 1991 and was named Ivy League coach of the year seven times.
