White River Junction — Nine area organizations have been awarded a total of $4,750 from the White River Rotary Club for a variety of charitable projects. The club issues the grant awards twice a year.

Recipients for the winter funding cycle include the Hartford Performing Arts Camp, which received funds to buy T-shirts for campers; and the Upper Valley Aquatic Center, for scholarships for its summer camp program.

Other projects included International Cultural Immersion, which received a grant to supplement fundraising efforts for 11 students traveling to Germany on a Hartford High School trip; and Hartford Project Graduation 2017.

The grants will also support Operation Warm, a project by the Lebanon, Hartford and Hanover fire departments that provides new winter coats to families in need; and the annual Ray Roy Snow Much Fun softball tournament, which benefits Prevent Child Abuse Vermont.

The Q’ewar Project received a grant for materials for Peruvian women to make fiber dolls, which are sold in a Bethel thrift shop; the proceeds go back to the Peruvian families. A grant to the nonprofit Watch Them Grow child care center in Bradford, Vt., will help defray the costs of a new playground structure.

Another round of grants will be made in June.
