Arlington, Texas — Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish is scheduled to pitch Sunday in his first minor league rehab start since Tommy John surgery more than 13 months ago.

The Rangers said Darvish will pitch for Double-A Frisco in its home game against Corpus Christi. Darvish will go two innings, or about 30 pitches.

Darvish last pitched in a major league game Aug. 9, 2014, then missed the end of that season because of right elbow inflammation. He pitched only one inning the following spring before surgery on March 17, 2015.

Phils Pitcher Out

Washington — Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Charlie Morton is out for the season because of a torn left hamstring. Morton was injured while running out of the batter’s box on a sacrifice attempt during at Milwaukee on Saturday and went on the 15-day disabled list a day later.

Nintendo Plans Sale of Mariners’ Stake

Seattle — Nintendo of America plans to sell its controlling stake in the Seattle Mariners to a group of minority owners led by John Stanton, who would become the team’s chairman and chief executive officer.

Current Chairman Howard Lincoln announced the intended transaction Wednesday along with his plan to retire from day-to-day oversight of the franchise.

Nintendo, which took control of the team from Jeff Smulyan in 1992, is selling all but 10 percent of its stake in the franchise and the regional sports network ROOT Sports.
