New York — Four-time Olympians Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird and Tamika Catchings headline the U.S. women’s national team roster heading to Brazil for the Rio Games this summer.

The trio will be joined by newcomers Elena Delle Donne, Brittney Griner and Breanna Stewart.

Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus, Lindsay Whalen, Angel McCoughtry, Tina Charles and Sylvia Fowles round out the American squad announced Wednesday morning.

The roster gives coach Geno Auriemma plenty of options as the U.S. shoots for its sixth consecutive gold medal.

The U.S. has won 41 consecutive Olympic contests dating back to the bronze medal game in 1992. Taurasi, Bird and Catchings were all part of the gold medal teams in 2004, 2008 and 2012.

The three veterans join Teresa Edwards and Lisa Leslie as the only Americans to play in at least four Olympics. Edwards played in five while Leslie was in four.

Mixed Martial Arts UFC 200 Replacement Match Announced

New York— UFC replaced its canceled Conor McGregor fight for another rematch, Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight title at UFC 200.

UFC officials announced the replacement main event on Wednesday, several days after Jones beat Ovince Saint Preux by decision in his first fight since he had his title stripped in 2015.

The move solidifies the stance taken by the mixed martial arts giant and its president, Dana White, as McGregor tried to sidestep promotional commitments leading up to the event.

McGregor — a colorful star known for spectacular knockouts, drawing power and trash talk — declined to attend a news conference last week in Las Vegas to promote his rematch with Nate Diaz. McGregor stirred fans with several tweets, first saying he was retired, then explaining his desire to focus on training, then saying he was back on to fight at UFC 200.

Soccer Atletico Edges Bayern

Madrid — An early goal by youngster Saul Niguez gave Atletico Madrid a gritty 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League semifinal on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old Niguez cleared three defenders before entering the area and hitting a low, well-placed shot into the far corner in the 11th minute at the Vicente Calderon Stadium.

A draw next week in Germany will be enough for Diego Simeone’s side to reach the final for the second time in the last three seasons. Real Madrid and Manchester City drew 0-0 in their first-leg match in England on Tuesday.

Revs, Timbers Draw

Foxborough, Mass. — Portland’s own goal in the 89th minute gave the New England Revolution a 1-1 draw with the Timbers in MLS.

Kelyn Rowe had a long volley to the far post that JeVaughn Watson tapped out front where it appeared Femi Hollinger-Janzen converted for his first MLS goal. However, it was ruled that the ball went off Portland defender Jermaine Taylor.

New England (1-2-6) had a 16-8 shot advantage but put only two on target. It is the first time in Revolution history they have had just one win through nine games.
