Baseball Colby-Sawyer 6, Thomas 2Thomas 5, Colby-Sawyer 4

New London — The Chargers used a five-run third inning to take the opener of Sunday’s North Atlantic Conference doubleheader, but they couldn’t keep up the momentum enough to sweep the Terriers.

Former Woodstock High standout Doug Avellino had the key blow of Colby-Sawyer’s big game-one inning, doubling to right-center field and driving in a pair of runs. Jeff Dunn, Brendan Turner and Jackson Musco accounted for the other RBIs in the frame, helping Connor Henry pick up his second win of the season.

A bases-loaded hit-by-pitch in the top of the seventh broke a 4-4 tie in the nightcap for Thomas (5-5, 10-10).

The Chargers (5-3, 8-8) go to Castleton for a rescheduled doubleheader on Tuesday.
