New York — Brandon Manning’s first NHL goal midway through the second period snapped a tie and powered the Philadelphia Flyers to a 4-1 win over the New York Islanders on Monday night.

Nick Cousins, Sam Gagner and Claude Giroux also scored for Philadelphia, which won for the 10th time in 13 games. The surging Flyers closed within one point of Detroit for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia trails the Islanders by three points for the first wild card. The Flyers are 2-1-0 against New York this season, with one game remaining.

The Islanders have lost five of six at a most inopportune time.

Maple Leafs 5, Flames 2

Toronto — William Nylander had a goal and two assists and the Toronto Maple Leafs earned a win over the Calgary Flames.

It was the first three-point game of his NHL career. The performance came two days after the 19-year-old registered his first career multi-point effort in a win over Buffalo.

Nylander has two goals and five points in his past two games.

P.A. Parenteau, Zach Hyman, Colin Greening and Josh Leivo also scored for the Leafs, who have won four of their past five games and five of their past seven. Matt Stajan and Joe Colborne scored for Calgary.

Rangers 4, Panthers 2

New York — Rick Nash scored his first goal since returning from a leg injury and Henrik Lundqvist made 25 saves in leading the New York Rangers to a 4-2 victory over the Florida Panthers on Monday night.

Viktor Stalberg, Mats Zuccarello and Tanner Glass also scored for the Rangers, who moved two points ahead of idle Pittsburgh for second place in the Metropolitan Division. New York has nine games left in the regular season, one more than the Penguins, who have won six in a row.

Vincent Trocheck and Jiri Hudler scored for the Panthers, who lost their second straight. The Atlantic Division leaders are two points in front of Tampa Bay with nine games to go, one fewer than the Lightning have left.

Predators 5, Kings 2

Nashville, Tenn. — Ryan Johansen had a goal and two assists to lead the Nashville Predators to a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night.

James Neal added a goal and an assist for the Predators, winners in three of their last four. Mike Fisher, Filip Forsberg and Roman Josi also scored.

Kings defensemen Drew Doughty and Alec Martinez each contributed a goal, but Los Angeles had its four-game winning streak snapped. Anze Kopitar had two assists.

Neal scored the game’s first goal at 7:37 of the second period.

In the left circle inside the Los Angeles zone, Johansen won a faceoff back to Neal at the top of the circle, where he immediately fired a shot low to the far side that just slid past the outstretched left leg of Kings goalie Jonathan Quick.
