BRADFORD, Vt. — An 84-year-old Newbury, Vt., woman was killed when her car went off snow-covered Route 5 and struck rock ledges late Wednesday afternoon, according to Vermont State Police.

Gloria Fox was driving north in a sedan on Route 5 near Roaring Brook Road around 4:50 p.m. when “she left the roadway, striking a guard rail, and then striking rock ledges,” police said in a news release Wednesday night.

Fox was taken by Woodsville EMS to Cottage Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The crash is under investigation, and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Nicholas Cianci at the St. Johnsbury barracks at 802-222-4680.

Roads were snow-covered and icy at the time, the news release said.
