LEBANON, NH — At home, surrounded by Annette, his wife of 64 years, his children and grandchildren, Maurice Langley went home to the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2020. A good and faithful servant, Maurice never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand or catch up with an old friend. A man who worked hard and did good work his whole life; is now at rest with the angels.
Maurice was born on May 21, 1934 in Lebanon, New Hampshire, to Averon and Alice Crate Langley. He grew up in West Lebanon and graduated from West Lebanon High School in1952.
He married Annette Tremblay on July 4,1956, and they made their home in Lebanon.
Maurice was predeceased by his grandson Joseph Rydjeski, his parents, Alice Crate Langley and Averon Langley and his brother Albert Langley. In addition to his wife, Maurice is survived by his children Maurice and Louise Langley, Ann and Stanley Rydjeski and Theresa and Ned Jones, his grandchildren Christopher and Alicia Rydjeski, Alison Langley and Stephen Jones. He is also survived by his siblings Donald and Dottie Langley, Jeannette and Dick Kendall and sister-in-law Dianne Langley and Annette’s siblings Roland Tremblay, Leon and Dottie Tremblay, Willie and Shirlene Tremblay, Louie and Marian Tremblay, John and Nancy Tremblay and Louise and Gordon Gribble as well as many nieces, nephews and dear cousins.
Maurice was a long time member of the West Lebanon High School Alumni Association serving in all the positions on the executive board and a tireless and enthusiastic organizer of both the annual Alumni Parade and Banquet. He was active at the La Salette Shrine in Enfield NH and he and Annette were the regular volunteers in the cafeteria every Sunday night during the Shrine’s Christmas Light display. Maurice worked for many years at Bob’s Market, Bailey Bros. and for the last decade for Paulie Bond’s grandson Cricket at Napa Auto Parts. Maurice’s work ethic was legendary, retiring just last fall. Maurice loved being on the road for work and traveling with his family. He loved to meet people and catch up on the latest news. If you wanted to know what was going on, you only had to ask …but, you had to ask, because he was too busy listening!
Nothing made Maurice happier than his family. Maurice loved a celebration, whether it was Christmas, Thanksgiving, a Birthday party, Fourth of July at Crystal Lake or just an occasion for the family to gather in the living room of their home or at Crystal Lake, he took in every second of the event and made sure that everyone who attended had exactly what they liked! No job was too small, no errand was unimportant; if Maurice knew you needed something he would set out on the “hunt,” find the item and work for hours to fix the problem. Maurice loved being outdoors and spent countless hours working at Crystal Lake with his brother Don and even more hours taking care of the needs of his family. Maurice’s life was defined by service to his wife, his three children and his five grandchildren and countless family, friends and strangers who he encountered each day. Doing for others is all he knew!
