Moretown, Vt. — The Harwood High hardwood was not kind to the Hartford High boys basketball team, which fell to the Highlanders, 49-42, on Thursday night.

Down 36-33 after three quarters, Harwood (3-0) outscored Hartford, 16-6, in the fourth quarter to take the win.

The Highlanders’ Charlie Zschau scored 17 points and was 6-for-7 from the free-throw line in the fourth.

Danny Bushway led Hartford with 16 points, while teammate Alex Bushway added 10. The Hurricanes are off until next Thursday, when they face Woodstock at otter Valley Union High in Brandon, Vt.

Twin Valley 59, Sharon 14

Chester, Vt. — Sharon (1-3) fell to Twin Valley in the consolation game of the Green Mountain Union High holiday tournament. Emma Foster led the Phoenix with six points.
