Thetford — Sayre’s Covered Bridge will be closed to most traffic Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. as the span is repaired.

The bridge along Tucker Hill Road was damaged earlier this year after it was struck repeatedly by vehicles over the maximum height allowed.

The repair work started on Thursday. While the bridge will remain open to emergency vehicles and school buses, motorists should find alternate routes, such as Academy Road and Route 132, Thetford officials said.
