Goshen, N.H. —
Joan was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, Class of 1943 and subsequently graduated from the N.Y. Institute if Dietetics in 1944. She had been employed as a nutritionist by Valley Regional Hospital for 14 years. Following her retirement she volunteered for several years at the Claremont Soup Kitchen.
Members of her family include her husband, Charles Holmes who resides at the N.H. Veteran Home in Tilton, N.H.; Joanie Holmes, Jacksonville, Fla.; Charles Holmes, Jr. Dorchester, Mass.; Michael Holmes and his wife, Kim, Gilbertville, Mass.; Susan Walker-Perkins and her husband, Doug, Claremont, N.H.; Pat Fullam and her husband, Randy, Claremont; Joseph Holmes and his wife, Jennifer, Hanover, Pa.; Peter Holmes and his wife, Julie, Jacksonville, Fla.; Michele Costello and her husband, Rick, Goshen; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her longtime friends, Theresa Amell and Sarah Ouellette. She was predeceased by her daughter, Denise Cummings; a granddaughter, Robin Flaig; and sisters, Judith Remy and Yvette St.Cyr.
There will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22 at St. Mary’s Church with the Rev. Shawn M. Therrien, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Claremont Soup Kitchen, PO Box 957, Claremont, NH 03743.
