HANOVER — Police evacuated and searched a Hypertherm building on Friday morning after an active shooter alarm sounded.
Police got an automatic alarm alerting them to an active shooter at Hypertherm Inc. on Great Hollow Road around 11 a.m. Friday, according to Hanover Police Chief Charlie Dennis.
But when officers from Hanover and Lebanon drove to the building, they found it was a false alarm. Officers set up a perimeter and evacuated employees before searching the building and reopening it around noon, Dennis said.
He said he believes the company was testing the building’s alarm system, which accidentally triggered the police response.
