ROYALTON, VT — Arthur “Art” Newton Abbott, 84, of Royalton died Thursday, October 17, 2019, at his home.

Art was born December 11, 1934, in Randolph, the son of Ruel and Myrtle (Burridge) Abbott. He graduated from Whitcomb High School in 1954 and then attended the Vermont School of Agriculture. Art served his country in US Army from 1955-1957. He farmed until 1986 on the Grand View Farm. Art served as a director to the White River Creamery. Art also worked for G-N Alternatives in Bethel and later for Clifford/Quik-Pull in the maintenance department. Art enjoyed mowing his lawn, whistling and reminiscing with friends and neighbors.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rachel; children, Scott Abbott of Bethel, Keith Abbott and wife Adrienne of Bethel, Greg Abbott and wife Lisa of Bethel, and daughter, Kelly Churchill and husband Steven of East Randolph; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held Monday, October 21, 2019, at 1 p.m. at the United Church of Bethel. Burial will follow at Fairview cemetery. There are no calling hours.
