Claremont — One woman suffered “severe lower extremity injuries” in a single-vehicle car crash on Charlestown Road in Claremont on Thursday morning, according to a news release from the Claremont Fire Department.

The woman, who was not named, was traveling northbound on Charlestown Road, which also is Route 11/12, when she drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree at about 7 a.m., according to the release.

Firefighters used two sets of hydraulic tools to remove the trapped woman from the vehicle, which was “heavily damaged,” the release said. She was transported by ambulance to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center.

Claremont police and Golden Cross Ambulance also responded.
