LEBANON — People in Lebanon can now go without masks at the Lebanon Farmers Market, although the city is still encouraging those who are unvaccinated to wear them, city officials said.
The Lebanon City Council on Wednesday night also amended part of the city’s mask ordinance to allow business owners and building managers to waive masking and social distancing requirements for people who are fully vaccinated if they do not interact with members of the public. Employees or volunteers who are not fully vaccinated or whose vaccination status is unknown are also still required to wear masks.
City Manager Shaun Mulholland said the amendment came about after some manufacturers in the city asked if their employees still needed to wear masks if their staffs were fully vaccinated.
Mulholland also said that masks are no longer required at the outdoor Lebanon Farmers Market, also effective immediately, though he added, “We do recommend that persons who are not vaccinated wear a mask while attending the Farmers Market.”
The council’s action comes as municipalities in the Upper Valley reconsider their mask mandates. Plainfield dropped its mandate last month. Hanover’s mandate remains and Enfield’s Selectboard will discuss its mandate at a meeting Monday night.
