Voters in Acworth, Goshen, Langdon, Lempster and Washington will choose between Democrat Chris Salmon of Acworth and Republican Ron Rule of Langdon for one seat in the New Hampshire House on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
The Valley News sent a survey to both candidates about their experience, why they are running and what they see as the biggest issue facing the state. Rule did not respond. Salmon’s answers, edited lightly for style, appear below.
Salmon, a former science teacher and longtime volunteer EMT, says the local property tax is the biggest problem he hears about in the district. Rule did not return the questionnaire.
CHRIS SALMON

Democrat · NH House Sullivan 4 · 75, Acworth
Political experience: No prior elected office.
Professional experience: I have taught science in public and private schools.
Community service: Volunteer EMT on an ambulance for 41 years.
Why are you running? I am tired of one-party rule, where Republicans downshift responsibility to your property tax and call that a tax cut.
Biggest issue: Talking to people in my district (Acworth, Langdon, Lempster, Goshen and Washington), the biggest problem is their local property tax.
