Claremont — The Wheelabrator incinerator on Grissom Lane is being auctioned online.
According to the website, bidspotter.com, the auction for the plant’s building, land and equipment will end at noon on Thursday.
The plant, which closed down in September 2013 after operating for 26 years, was auctioned in April 2015 to Ed Deely Jr. for $1.63 million but the sale was never finalized. A second auction was scheduled for last May but never took place and company officials declined to comment at the time.
Asset Recovery and Consulting LLC is conducting the online auction. The plant sits on about nine acres. The property is being auctioned in three “lots:” all machinery and equipment in lot 1; all land and buildings in lot 2; or both lots 1 and 2 combined. According to the website, the minimum bid is $200,000. No bids have yet been received.
