Alice Hadley

Lebanon, NH – Alice Hadley, 83, of Lebanon, NH and formally of Duxbury/Plymouth, MA, passed away at home on Saturday, August 8, 2026.

She was born in Dorchester, MA on July 2, 1943, to Walter and Alice Romansky Mitz.

Alice received her nursing degree from New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She would then continue on to touch the lives of many with her endless compassion and kindness in her capacity as an IV nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where she worked much of her career.

In 1984, she married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Hadley. Together they made their home in CT and later Duxbury, MA. After retiring, the two could often be found watching the swans on the pond or sitting by the ocean enjoying a crossword puzzle and coffee.

Bob passed away in 2023 after which Alice relocated to Lebanon, NH to be near family.

Alice was eccentric, warm, kind, strong, intelligent, independent, and resilient. She had a spirit that was not easily broken and a strong moral character bolstered by her faith.

Alice is survived by her stepdaughter Candace Hadley-King and husband Charles of Lebanon, NH; stepdaughter Deborah Sterl of Laconia; 5 step grandchildren; and 2 nieces.

She was predeceased by her husband Bob, her parents Walter and Alice Mitz, and her brothers Walter “Wally” J. Mitz and William “Billy” Mitz.

A celebration of life for both Alice and Bob will be held Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 1pm at Glenwood Cemetery in Lebanon, NH followed by a reception at Harvest Hill.

Special thanks go to the entire team at Harvest Hill, her care team with VNH Hospice, and her family and close friends who were by her side during her final few weeks.
