Deer in the school
I had a bit of deja-vu when reading about the deer that crashed Into the lobby of Mount Lebanon School. Many years ago (I think it was The late 70’s) when I was teaching music in Lebanon, I traveled among several Elementary Schools.
I arrived, mid-morning, at Hanover Street School and found the classroom I used cold and without chairs. I saw one of the small windows which tipped out for ventilation was missing. The room was on one side of a “U” shaped area surrounded by buildings. Apparently, a deer had wandered into the area, become spooked and ran toward what it thought was open space due to the reflection of the glass. It dove through the window and landed inside. Unfortunately, this deer injured itself enough that it didn’t survive.
Perhaps, if there had been movement and people inside it would not have approached, but had it jumped through later that morning the room would have had me and my students inside
