Hartford boys win SVL meet

With top-five finishes in every event except one, the Hartford High boys won the Southern Vermont League Track and Field meet at Springfield High School on Tuesday, with the girls finishing second among nine teams.

The Hurricanes were paced by Matthew Nubin (1st, long jump), Jayden Forbes (1st triple jump, 2nd 200 meters), and Forbes, Leo Snyder- Hamalainen, Nathan Freeman and Lucas Anderson (1st, 4 by 400 relay). The Hartford women were led by Maddie Carbino (1st, 300 hurdles), Scarlett Brooks (1st, 1,500 meters), Kathryn Summarsell, Sylvia Johnson, Carbino and Brooks (1st, 4 by 400), Rowan Dumont (2nd, discus and javelin), Kira White (2nd, 400 meters, high jump) and Johnson (2nd, 1,500 meters) and Carbino, White Summarsell and Tess Blake Dโ€™Amato (2nd, 4 by 100) For the Woodstock girls, Piper Pauly won the 100 and 200 meters, the triple jump and anchored the winning 4 by 100 relay with Annesonia Beardsley, Faith Mispel and Annasophia Cueva and Aven Westbrook, Bethany Thorburn, Anna Young and Aurora Hensel-Whalen were second in the 4 by 800.

The Woodstock boys had two first-place finishes by Elijah Tyrell (110 and 300 meter hurdles), with Nicolas Cellini second in the 1,500 and 3000 meters. Noah Malloy was second in the 100 meters and high jump and third in the 400 meters for Sharon Academy with teammates Finn Proulx (1st, 3000 meters), Phoenix Colburn (2nd, 300 and 110 meter hurdles), and Orion Bee (2nd, triple jump). The best finishes for the Sharon girls were Maddie Kopicki (3rd,ย 300 meter hurdles) and Lyla Lyman (3rd, javelin)
